========================================================================== Microsoft DirectX README.TXT ========================================================================== Release Notes ------------- Microsoft DirectX files must be installed for the following software or hardware components to function correctly: *Diamond Multimedia hardware MPEG daughterboards *Software MPEG for Windows 95 *Diamond Multimedia TV Utilities for Windows 95 *Any Diamond Multimedia DirectDraw-enabled graphics device driver Installation Order ------------------ The following list is the recommended installation order for Windows 95 software from Diamond Multimedia: 1. Diamond Multimedia graphics device driver for Windows 95 2. Microsoft DirectX 3. Diamond Multimedia TV Utilities for Windows 95 (if the graphics card is equipped with a TV module) 4. Software MPEG for Windows 95 (if the graphics card is NOT equipped with a hardware MPEG module) Microsoft DirectX Installation Instructions ------------------------------------------- 1. Open up a MS-DOS full screen or windowed session from inside Windows 95. 2. Switch to the root directory of the hard type drive by typing: c: <enter> cd \ <enter> 3. Insert the Microsoft DirectX diskette (1 of 2) into the floppy drive. 4. Type the following to extract the DirectX files onto the hard drive: A:\PKUNZIP -d A:\DIRECTX.ZIP C:\ <enter> Follow the prompts until PKUNZIP is done extracting the files. 5. Exit from the DOS session back into Windows 95 by typing Exit. 6. Select Start, then select Run. 7. For the command line, type the following: C:\DIRECTX\DXSETUP.EXE <enter> 8. Select Re-install DirectX. 9. Whenever a dialog box appears stating that 'uncertified drivers are installed', and asks if you wish to have a certified driver installed, select "NO". 10. Restart your system when prompted to do so. 11. Delete the C:\DIRECTX directory and all of its subdirectories. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
