Installing the DAZZLE DCS-200 (DM-7200-EFS)
--------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: Please read this entire file before installing any software, drivers, or connecting your DCS-200 to your computer.

1. Create a Sytetm Restore Point prior to installing ANY Dazzle software or drivers.
Go to START|All Programs|Accessories|System Tools
and Click System Restore.
Choose Create a Restore Point and follow the prompts.

2. Run Setup in the Drivers section of this file to install the Drivers for your DAZZLE DCS-200. Do not install any DAZZLE software at this point, just the drivers.

3. Plug in your DCS-200 power cord and then plug it into your computers USB port.
Your computer should recognize your DCS-200 and install the appropriate drivers.

4. WINNT (Including XP) users. Check to see that if you have any networking access or if you use Internet (which you probably do since you have this file!), that everything is still working. Make sure you can browse the Internet to NEW pages. If all is NOT well as was the fact for me, STOP and look at the "Installation Note:" below for resolution instructions.

5. Install DAZZLE Software if everything is working
--------------------------------------------------------
You may now install the DAZZLE software from the CD that came with your DCS-200

6. Restart your computer
--------------------------------------------------------

7. Apply the patches in the following order:
--------------------------------------------------------
A. Smart Rendering (This patch is for MovieStar 5)
(You can bypass this patch and get a higher version by downloading MovieStar
   5.3.0.25 from Pinnacle at:
   http://www.pinnaclesys.com/wwwmenu_dazzle.asp?Langue_ID=7&Family=24#open
   and go to Legacy Software)
B. Video Driver Update
C. Card Reader Update
D. Card Reader Flash Update Utility

--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
Reinstall Virus Software if you removed it.
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
After installing the patches you can reinstall your Virus software if you removed it and everything should work.

INSTALLATION NOTE: (Typically only WinNT including XP users will be affected by this)
If you have WinNT or XP and use a network Router or Switch and after installing the Dazzle Drivers you notice that your computer can not access the Internet,
or if you notice that DNS becomes spotty and you sometimes do not even get an IP address assigned to your computer,
or if you can not access other computers on your network that you could prior to installing your DCS-200 drivers,
your virus software is most likely the problem.

Your virus protection software works through the TCP/IP WinSock and is blocking your DNS because of your new hardware and drivers that it does not recognize. Contacting your virus protection software company is always a good idea but the simplest and quickest way to FIX the problem, and I'm sure you want FAST, is to follow these instructions.

You should have used the System Restore option above in step ONE because you now need to restore your computer to the settings just prior to installing any DAZZLE drivers or software. Do that NOW if your having network problems.

Now before installing any Dazzle software or drivers, or activating the DCS-200 via the USB cable you should REMOVE all virus software from your computer using the START|CONTROL PANEL "Add/Remove Programs". Remove it, don't just stop it or deactivate it.

Why is this necessary?
Virus software appends it's self to the Windows TCP/IP WinSock to help watch and protect your computer while connected to other computers and surfing the Internet. Your virus software is blocking your computers access because at the machine level the winsock doesn't recognize your new DAZZLE device as a proper and safe means of communication. It feels like it's being hacked and is blocking access at the lower level.
The easiest way to fix it is to remove the virus software, install the DAZZLE drivers and then re-install the virus software. When the virus software appends to the TCP/IP WinSock after your DAZZLE drivers and hardware are installed and activated, the virus software append will have the new device and drivers listed from the registery and append them to the AUTHORIZED list which is only created at the time of installation and which is in Hexidecimal in the registry and very hard to decode and edit, therefore it is much easier to simply remove it and reinstall it.
