File Name: RELEASE.TXT
Product Name: NI6510-NWDRV-2
Description: NetWare WS Packet Driver for the InterLan EtherBlaster
Version: 5.85
Part Number: 158-0230-00
              149-0230-00

SECTION 1 - Overview
--------------------
The driver in this directory allows the Racal InterLan EtherBlaster to be
used in DOS-based systems to run Novell NetWare workstation software with
networking software written to the packet driver interface.

Version 3.1 of this driver was certified under NetWare 286 v2.2 by the
Novell Test Labs (Certification Number L-640, dated August 2, 1991).

Version 4.0 incorporated high memory load enhancements; Version 4.01
incorporated a fix to support PS/2 Model 35sx and 40sx computers that
support the ISA bus architecture.

Version 4.04 of this driver addresses a "slowdown" issue encountered at
some sites when the NI6510 received packets greater than 1514 bytes in
length. It has been tested for correct operation with NetWare 386 v3.x, and
has passed Novell certification tests conducted in the Racal InterLan labs.

Version 5.01 supports the EtherBlaster as well as all previous versions of
the NI6510.

Version 5.10 supports the 8 interrupt version of the EtherBlaster.

Version 5.50 supports the PCnet-ISA+ version of the EtherBlaster.

Version 5.85 disables the Guaranteed Access Time (GAT) mode in the Intel
823878I System I/O (SIO) chip, which is found in some PCI/ISA PCs. When
enabled, this mode can cause a violation of ISA bus timing specification for
bus master devices. As a result, the InterLan EtherBlaster is prevented from
accessing host memory in a timely manner. GAT mode can be modified on the
command line to override the driver default (to turn GAT off). Use the -o
option followed by /GAT=ON (always turns it on), /GAT=OFF (always turns it
off), or /GAT=NONE (does not change the system power on default).
Version 5.85 also supports the XLerator series and Plug and Play.
