File Name: RELEASE.TXT
Product Name: NI6510-NSDRV-2
Description: NetWare 2.x Server Driver for the InterLan EtherBlaster
Version: 5.85
Part Number: 158-0231-00
	      149-0231-00

SECTION 1 - Overview
--------------------
The driver in this directory allows the InterLan EtherBlaster to be used in
a file server executing NetWare 2.x (NetWare 286).

The driver was written and tested for conformance to the Netware IPX
Server Interface specification for NetWare 2.x as specified in the
Novell LAN Driver Developer's Guide Volume 1.

Version 1.7 of this driver was certified under NetWare 2.15 by the Novell
Test Labs (Certification Number L-308, dated January 23, 1990).

Version 2.6 of this driver addresses a "slowdown" issue encountered at
some sites when the NI6510 received packets greater than 1514 bytes in
length. It has been tested for correct operation with NetWare 286 v2.2, and
has passed Novell certification tests conducted in the Racal InterLan labs.

Version 5.50 of this driver has support for all versions of the InterLan
EtherBlaster (including PCnet-ISA+) as well as the NI6510. It has been tested
for correct operation with NetWare 286 v2.2, and has passed Novell
certification tests conducted in the Racal InterLan labs.

Version 5.85 disables the Guaranteed Access Time (GAT) mode in the Intel
823878I System I/O (SIO) chip, which is found in some PCI/ISA PCs. When
enabled, this mode can cause a violation of ISA bus timing specification for
bus master devices. As a result, the InterLan EtherBlaster is prevented from
accessing host memory in a timely manner. GAT mode can be modified on the
command line to override the driver default (to turn GAT off). The keywords
are GAT=ON (always turns it on), GAT=OFF (always turns it off), and GAT=NONE
(does not change the system power on default).
This version also supports the XLerator series and Plug and Play. It has
passed Novell certification tests conducted in the Racal InterLan labs.

Additional information on the completion of Novell's certification tests
can be obtained by contacting Racal InterLan Pre-Sales Support at
1-800-LAN-TALK or 508-263-9929, or by contacting Novell, Inc.
