Using your ELSA 56k seriell modem with a seriell portspeed of 230400 bps ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Using your ELSA 56k seriell modem with a seriell portspeed of 230400 bps Your ELSA 56k modem supports a maximum portspeed of 230400 bps. Usally the motherboard seriell ports are limited to 115200 bps. But you could find in the internet patches which increase the maximum portspeed: http://www.devdrv.com/shsmod/ There are also multiport cards available by your computer hardware dealer, which provides higher port speeds. Because an early Windows version tries to set the portspeed to the maximum port speed which is read in the driver file, regardless to the motherboard capabilities, we have limited the portspeed in the inf file in the CD main directory to 115200 bps. (The above bug is fixed for current Windows versions). For expierenced users we provide an inf file with a portspeed limit of 230400 bps in this directory. For using this driver file, you need first to uninstall the default driver by running the uninstall.bat from the CD main directory. After this you need to initiate the modeminstallation process. If you are asked by Windows for automatic search of the driver or manually selection, you need to choose manually selection. Then you need to select this directory with the "ELSA 56k (230400)" driver. Because the use of 230400 bps depends on beta / alpha patches for the seriellport, our 230400 inf file is also beta and would not be supported by our hotline and will never be digitally signed by Microsoft.
