3 Mode Diskette for Japanese DOS
                      ------------------------------------

Requirements when using 3.5" 1.2 MB diskette

           H/W 3-mode type diskette drive
S/W DISKETTE.SYS for installation in the CONFIG.SYS file
           MEDIUM 2HD 3.5" diskette

    Installation methods:

Using INSTALL.EXE in the system utility diskette at, A: type INSTALL.

device=C:\DISKETTE.SYS will then be added to the CONFIG.SYS
file. At the same time, the CONFIG.SYS file will be backed
up as the CONFIG.ACR file. If the root directory of the
drive does not have a CONFIG.SYS file, one will be created
           automatically.
Simultaneously, the DISKETTE.SYS and FORMATER.EXE files are
also copied from the utility diskette to the root directory
           of assigned drive.

When the installation is successfully, the system will show the logic
drive name of the 1.2 MB diskette drive at system power-on.
Use this drive by specifying the logic drive name.
For example, at power on, this message appears:

                DEVICE D: INSTALLED

Your logic drive name is D.
So when you want to scan the contents of your 1.2 MB diskette, at C:,
type dir d:. Other DOS commands can also be used as long as the logic
        drive name is specified.

    Formating the 1.2 MB diskette:

At DOS prompt, type FORMATER, press ENTER.

The screen will then display this message

             The Three-Mode Format Utility Vx.xx
Copyright (C) Acer Inc. 1993, All rights reserved

           a. If you have only one 3-mode drive, this message will appear

Please insert diskette into drive [D]
press ENTER to continue or ESC to exit

After inserting the diskette, press Enter or ESC to exit.

           b. If you have two 3-mode drives, this message appears

Which drive do you want to format [D:] or [E:] ?

After inserting the diskette, type the logic drive name.

             * [D], [D:] or [E:] refers to your logic drive name.

    NOTE:
If the string "device=C:\DISKETTE.SYS" has not yet been added,
      the following message will appear:

"The Three-Mode Diskette driver does not exist."

If this happens, re-installation is required.
