1. Introduction

This diskette contains the Minolta Color PageWorks/Pro Printer Driver
files for Windows 95 and Windows 3.1/3.11.
The Minolta Color PageWorks/Pro Printer Driver was developed to
provide true Windows-based printing for users of the Minolta Color
PageWorks/Pro Printer.

The Minolta Color PageWorks/Pro Printer Driver lets you set up your
Color PageWorks/Pro Printer to provide the type of printed output
you want. Note that such factors as the original data (number of
colors, resolution, data format), the types of paper you are using,
and the settings of your application software can also affect color
printing results.

For further information on the printer and the driver, refer to the
User's manual and online help with driver.

3. Helpful Hints

Print Setup Windows
-------------------

*The printer driver window fails to be opened in Mathcad 6.0
(Windows 3.1/3.11) and The Print Shop Ensemble III (Windows 3.1/3.11)

[Mathcad 6.0]
The printer driver window of Minolta Color PageWorks/Pro does not
come up from Print Setup window when it is selected from "File"/
"Print"/"Print Setup"/"Options". When you need to see and change
the printing setting, open up the Print Setup window of Minolta
PageWorks/Pro from "Control Panel"/"Printers"/"Setup".

[The Print Shop Ensemble III]
The printer driver window of Minolta Color PageWorks/Pro does not
come up from Print Setup window when it is selected from "File"/
"Print"/"Setup"/"Setup". When you need to see and change
the printing setting, open up the Print Setup window of Minolta
PageWorks/Pro from "Control Panel"/"Printers"/"Setup".

ATM (Adobe Type Manager) font
-----------------------------

*Thin black lines on the edge of ATM font.

Sometimes unnecessary black lines may appear on the edges of
characters when you use ATM fonts.

Workaround : Replace ATM fonts with other fonts.

Resolution
----------

*Printing with 300dpi sometimes causes transparency troubles.

Sometimes when you print a document with resolution of 300dpi,
background objects may be seen through foreground objects.

Workaround : Print the document with resolution of 600dpi.

Memory
------

*Data compression

When printing a large complex file, the printer may go into
the compression mode and may affect the image quality to some
degree. Minolta recommends adding more memory when the compression
mode occurrs.

Media type
----------

*Transparency

When you print a document on a transparency, you must select
"Transparency" as "Output Media" on the Paper tab, so that you can get
a good output. Note that the printing speed slows down to
one-third of the normal speed automatically on color printing
in order to improve the image quality.

*Thick paper

When you print a document on a transparency, you must select
"Thick Paper" as "Output Media" on the Paper tab, so that you can get
a good output. Note that the printing speed slows down to
one-third of the normal speed automatically in order to improve
the image quality.

*Envelope

When you print an envelope, you must set the flap as underside on
manual tray (Tray1) and the printing direction should be identified with
that of the application. Genellaly, envelopes perform well, but some
types may wrinkle. We strongly recommend testing any type of envelope
before buying it in large amounts.
