I. Windows 95 Installation Notes
---------------------------------

A. If Windows 95 is already installed
--------------------------------------

1. When you first install the video card in the system and power on, Windows 95
will inform you that it has discovered a new "PCI VGA-Compatible Display
Adapter" and will prompt you to install drivers for it. At this point you
will want to select "Do not install a driver" and click "OK".

2. Next select "Cancel" when the message box appears indicating that your
display adapter is not configured properly. Select "Cancel" once again when
the "Display Properties" dialog comes up.

3. Next right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties". Then select the
   "Device Manager" tab.

4. Now within the "Device Manager" you will want to double-click "Other
devices", highlight the "PCI VGA-Compatible Display Adapter" and select
   "Properties".

5. Now select the "Driver" tab and click the "Change Driver..." button.

6. Scroll through the "Hardware Type" list until you find "Display adapters".
Highlight this selection and click "OK".

7. You should then be able to highlight "(Standard display types)" and select
"OK" to accept the "Standard Display Adapter(VGA)" option.

8. Now click "OK" once again to install the "Standard Display Adapter(VGA)"
   driver.

9. When Windows 95 prompts you to restart the computer, click "Yes".

10. Once Windows 95 restarts you will want to click the "Start" button, then
    choose "Run...".

11. Now insert the Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95 Display Drivers into the
appropriate drive and within the "Run" dialog box type the following:
"x:\INSTALL" where x is the corresponding letter of the drive containing
the Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95 Display Drivers.

The following command line switches can be used with INSTALL:

/f This forces a Full installation
(Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95
Display Driver and InControl Tools 95).

/m This forces a Minimal installation
(Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95
                                        Display Driver only).

/d"drive:\path" This installs InControl Tools 95 into
drive:\path. Note that the quotes, drive
letter and path are required. In
addition, either the /f or /m switch
must be used in conjunction with this
                                        selection.

/r This forces a system reboot after
installation. Note that either the /f
or /m switch must be used in conjunction
                                        with this selection.

/nr This prevents a system reboot after
installation. Note that either the /f
or /m switch must be used in conjunction
                                        with this selection.

uninstall This will completely uninstall the
Diamond Stealth 3D Windows 95 Display

                                Series Display Driver.

Stealth 3D Series Display Driver must be installed
                                during a first-time installation.

complete the installation. Note: If applicable, please remove the floppy
diskette containing the Diamond Stealth 3D Series Display Drivers prior to
    clicking "Finish".

19. Windows 95 will ask that the computer be restarted. Click on "Yes" to
    restart the computer.

20. Once Windows 95 restarts, you will have successfully installed the software
for your Diamond Stealth 3D Series. The InControl Tools 95 Wizard will then
guide you the rest of the way. Thank you for choosing Diamond!

B. Installing Windows 95 after installing the Stealth 3D
---------------------------------------------------------

1. If you install Windows 95 after you have installed the Stealth 3D Series,
Windows 95 will use a generic S3 driver for the Stealth 3D Series. In order
to install the provided Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95 Display
    Drivers, complete the following steps.

2. First right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties". Now select the
    "Device Manager" tab.

3. Under "Display adapters" you will want to highlight "S3" and click "Remove".
Then click "OK" to confirm the device removal.

4. Next select "No" when Windows 95 prompts you to restart the computer. Note:
you will want to keep the "Device Manager" open in order to proceed with the
    installation.

5. From this point on, you will be able to complete the installation by
continuing with Step 4 which is provided within the section above labeled:
"A. If Windows 95 is already installed".

II. Diamond Refresh Utility
----------------------------

The Diamond Refresh Utility allows you to select the refresh rate for your
monitor which suits you best in addition to providing a display centering
utility. You may want to have your monitor's manual or specifications with you
while using this utility.

A. To access the Display Centering Utility:
--------------------------------------------

1. Click your right mouse button anywhere on the Windows background. The
   Windows desktop menu will appear.

2. Next choose "Properties" in order to bring up the "Display Properties" dialog
   box.

3. Now select the "Refresh" tab.

4. Move your mouse cursor to the screen area on the monitor graphic. You will
notice that the mouse cursor changes to a hand.

5. Press and hold your left mouse button and move the screen graphic up, down or
to either side. Note that your screen is repositioned dynamically as you
   move the mouse.

6. Release your mouse button when your screen is centered. Note: You can also
change the screen position dynamically by simultaneously pressing your <Alt>
key and either the left, right, up or down directional arrow keys.

7. A confirmation message opens to let you verify the change. Click "Yes" to
confirm the change or "No" to revert to the previous screen position. If you
don't make a choice, the message box is dismissed after a few seconds and the
screen reverts to it's previous position.

B. To access the Monitor Refresh Utility:
------------------------------------------

1. Click your right mouse button anywhere on the Windows background. The
    Windows desktop menu will appear.

2. Next choose "Properties" in order to bring up the "Display Properties"
    dialog box.

3. Now select the "Refresh" tab.

4. In the lower portion of the dialog box, open the refresh dropdown list by
clicking on the downward-pointing arrow to the right of the list viewer.
The list contains all available refresh rates for the currently selected
monitor type, viewport size and color palette. Note that some
    configurations offer only one choice.

5. If more than one refresh rate is available, you are provided the ability to
    select a new one.

6. If you select a new refresh rate, a confirmation message box opens. If the
new refresh rate appears stable, you can click "Yes" to confirm the
selection. If you click "No" or wait a few seconds, the previous refresh
    rate is restored.

Features Added
--------------
None

Problems Addressed
------------------
Some issues with color-depth switching were resolved.

Known Limitations
-----------------
It is recommended that you do not have any games or
applications open or running prior to performing a
color-depth switch.

With the Plus! color theme and Explorer open, open the
Display properties page over Explorer. When switching
between 8-bpp and 24-bpp, the background color of
Explorer does not properly refresh. Again, closing
Explorer before color-depth switching will resolve this
issue.

Using CorelDraw 5.0 at 1024x768 256 colors, type TEXT
for the whole page using the "AVANT GARDE BK BT" font.
Highlight all the text and cut it. Some pixels may be
dropped on the page.

Color shifting within the Windows 95 splash screen might
appear if you have VGA Palette Snooping enabled in your
system BIOS. If this is the case, you should disable
this option in your system BIOS.
