               SOFTWARE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
            FOR BANYAN VINES CLIENT NDIS 2.01 DRIVER
          HP J3239A DeskDirect EL-10 ISA Combo Adapter
 
 
 The driver used for Banyan VINES is NDIS2\HPEIND.DOS, which conforms
 to the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) defined by
 Microsoft and 3Com.

 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
 ======================
 
 1. Run the PCCONFIG utility.  The "Configuring A PC for the Network"
    window will display.
 
 
 2. Select "1 -  Network Card Setting," and press [ENTER] to continue.
    You will be prompted for the hardware configuration options.
 
 
 3. Select the "NDIS Ethernet" option and press [ENTER].
 
 
 4. Enter the interrupt (IRQ) setting, as listed by HPEISET, when
    prompted.  Enter the text "J3239A" for the "PROTOCOL bindings ="
    Statement.
 
    IF you did not make a note of the interrupt setting when
       configured, now use the "View Configuration" menu item in
       HPEISET to note it.  Do not change the setting in this VINES
       installation.
 
 
 5. Press [F10] when process is complete, or press [ESC] to exit
    the screen
.
 
 6. Select "2 - Login Environment Settings," and press [ENTER].
 
 
 7. Select "1 - Select Default Communications Driver," and press
    [ENTER].
 
 
 8. Select "NDIS Ethernet," and press [ESC] to exit this menu.
 
 
 9. Press [F10] to save all settings.
 
 
 10. Modify the CONFIG.SYS and the PROTOCOL.INI files as in the
     following examples.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
