INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Installation or Update of Analog Devices SoundMAX Audio Driver

  NOTE: Remove any previously installed driver using the instructions
        in the next section.

1.  From the task bar, click on Start -> Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type X:\path\setup, where X:\path is the
    full path to the source files.

3.  Click on the OK button or press the ENTER key.

4.  Click on the Next and OK prompts as they appear.

5.  Reboot the system to complete the driver installation.

  NOTE: Some versions of Windows 95 might make it difficult to adjust
        Microphone gain. Click on the "Advanced" button beneath the
        Mic volume slider, and then click on the "Mic 20dB Gain"
        checkbox to adjust the overall gain.


Removal of Analog Devices SoundMAX Audio Driver

1.  From the task bar, click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.

2.  Double-click on the Add/Remove programs icon. 

3.  Double-click on "SoundMAX x86 VM General MIDI Server" uninstall.  

4.  Reboot the system to fully uninstall the drivers.


HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE DEPENDENCIES:

This driver has been designed for, and is intended to be used with,
Windows 95 OSR2, Windows 98 Gold, and Windows 98 SE.

1.  The system must contain an ICH chip set.

2.  The Windows 95 Operating System OSR2, must be installed on 
    the system.

3.  Must be installed with DirectX(TM) 5 or greater, but DirectX 6 or 
    greater is recommended. 

This driver is built for the Microsoft(R) Windows Operating Systems.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
