Upgrading to New Windows Drivers

Use these instructions to upgrade your computer to using the new drivers
for Windows 95 GA, Windows 95 OSR2, Windows 98, Windows NT 3.51, Windows NT
4.0, and Windows 2000. These instructions assume that you have the previous
level of this driver installed on your computer and that the adapter is installed.

Windows 95 GA

You will need your Windows 95 GA operating system code. It can be on CD-ROM
or diskettes or already on your computer. You will also need the new driver
file, found elsewhere on this Web site.</p>

1.First, remove the old driver from your computer:
  a.Click Control Panel, Network,
    then highlight the driver (Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring PC Card), and click 
    Remove.
  b.Do not reboot your computer when asked.
2.Insert the diskette with fixwin95.bat and the new driver on it.
3.Click Start, Run, and type
the location of the file fixwin95.bat (if the file is on the diskette, the
command would be a:\fixwin95.bat). Running this file
cleans up from the previous driver.
4.When the DOS window says that the system is now ready, close that window.
5.Remove the diskette from the drive.
6.Reboot your computer.
7.When the New Hardware Found window appears, click Disk
from Manufacturer, insert the diskette with the new driver on it, press 
Enter, and change the location to the diskette drive root
directory (a:\).
8.If you are asked for Windows files, change the location to your source
(diskette drive, CD-ROM drive, or hard drive).
9.Remove the diskette with the new driver on it.
10.Reboot your computer.
11.Installation of the new driver is now complete.

Windows 95 OSR2

You will need your Windows 95 OSR2 operating system code. It can be on
CD-ROM or diskettes or already on your computer. You will also need the new
driver file, found elsewhere on this Web site.

To determine if you have OSR2, click Start, Settings, Control Panel, and 
System. If the system version number is 4.00.950 B, you are using OSR2.
If it is 4.00.950 A or just 4.00.950, you are using the original version of
Windows 95 (GA).

Do not install the new driver within the device manager. Rather, use the
instructions here.

1.First, remove the old driver from your computer:
  a.Click Control Panel, Network, then highlight the driver (Turbo 16/4 
    Token-Ring PC Card), and click Remove.
  b.Do not reboot your computer when asked.

2.Insert the diskette with fixwin95.bat and the new driver on it.
3.Click Start, Run, and type
the location of the file fixwin95.bat (if the file is on the diskette, the
command would be a:\fixwin95.bat). Running this file
cleans up from the previous driver.
4.When the DOS window says that the system is now ready, close that window.
5.Remove the diskette from the drive.
6.Reboot your computer.
7.When the Update Device Driver Wizard appears, insert the diskette with
the new driver on it, click Next>, Finish, and change the location to the 
diskette drive root directory (a:\).
8.If you are asked for Windows files, change the location to your source
(diskette drive, CD-ROM drive, or hard drive).
9.Remove the diskette with the new driver on it.
10.Reboot your computer.
11.Installation of the new driver is now complete.

Windows 98

You will need your Windows 98 operating system code. It can be on CD-ROM
or diskettes or already on your computer. You will also need the new driver
file, found elsewhere on this Web site.

1.Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, and Device Manager.
2.Under Network Adapter, double-click Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring
PC Card, click the Driver tab, click Update Driver, insert the diskette, 
and specify the diskette drive (a:\).
3.If you are asked for Windows files, change the location to your source
(diskette drive, CD-ROM drive, or hard drive).
4.Remove the diskette with the new driver on it.
5.Reboot your computer.
6.Installation of the new driver is now complete.

Windows NT 3.51

You will need your Windows NT 3.51 operating system code. It can be on
CD-ROM or diskettes or already on your computer. You will also need the new
driver file, found elsewhere on this Web site.

1.Open the Control Panel and double-click the Network icon.
2.Under Installed Adapter Cards, select Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring PC Card, and
click Update.
3.When it prompts you for the new driver, insert the diskette, and specify
the diskette drive (a:\).
4.When installation is done, select OK.
5.Remove the diskette from the drive, and reboot your computer.
6.Installation of the new driver is now complete.

Windows NT 4.0

You will need your Windows NT 4.0 operating system code. It can be on CD-ROM
or diskettes or already on your computer. You will also need the new driver
file, found elsewhere on this Web site.

1.Click Start, Settings, and Control Panel.
2.Double-click the Network icon and select the Adapters tab.
3.Select Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring PC Card, and click Update.
4.When it prompts for the driver, insert the diskette and specify the diskette
drive (a:\).
5.When installation is done, close the window and remove the diskette. 
6.Reboot your computer.
7.Installation of the new driver is now complete.

Windows 2000

IBM does not support this adapter on Windows 2000. Support will begin when the Windows
2000 operating system becomes generally available.

You will need your Windows 2000 operating system code. It can be on CD-ROM
or diskettes or already on your computer. You will also need the new driver
file, found elsewhere on this Web site.

1.Click Start, Settings, and Control Panel.
2.Double-click System, select the Hardware tab, and select Device Manager.
3.Expand the network adapters, double-click Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring PC Card,
and select the Driver tab.
4.Select Update Driver, and follow the instructions
on the panels in the wizard.
5.When the system says search for a suitable driver for
my device, insert the diskette, and specify the diskette drive (a:\).
6.Follow the instructions on the panels until the installation is complete.
7.Reboot your computer.
8.Installation of the new driver is now complete.
