This document contains two sections:

A) The upgrade procedure
B) The firmware release history for SMC7904WBRA2
c) Known issue's

Section A: Upgrade Procedure
=========================================================================

1.  Turn on the Barricade and plug it into your network adapter using port 1.

2.  Connect to the Web user interface by typing the Barricade's IP Address (ex: 192.168.2.1) in your browser. You will then be prompted to enter your password (default: smcadmin) to logon to the Barricade.

3.  Click on the "Tools" link, then click the "Update Firmware" option. The "Update Firmware" screen will appear.

4.  Click the "Browse" button and point it to the location of the firmware file. 

5.  Next click "Apply" button and follow the prompts to begin the upgrade. You will see the message "Processing, please wait" and a percentage bar count up to 100%. When the upgrade is complete the Barricade will reboot.

6.  Your Barricade has now been successfully upgraded. 

Note: It is recommended to make a note of your configuration settings before performing the upgrade.

Section B: Firmware History
=========================================================================

v019A:    
- Fix bug -> When running join operation, storm rising, at LAN mode when press search button, system will reboot.
- Fix Bug -> CLI TFTP backup config command not working (failed when trying to connect)
- Fix Bug -> LAN >> Local IP accepts Invalid IP such as 127.0.0.0. After that we cannot access the UI. We have to reset to factory defaults the device.
- Fix Bug -> ROUTING >> RIP page,DUT UI should pop-up an alert message if user tried to enable "Authentication required" function in RIP 1. Because RIPv1 does not support Authentication function.
- Fix Bug -> In DDNS Settings - The Domain Name, Account / E-mail and Password /Key fields can accept symbol " and did not display an alert message. (The symbol " will deletes words behind it.)
- Fix Bug -> Firewall > MAC Filter page typing errors.
- Fix Bug -> NAT > Virtual server page shows the LAN IP address in a strange position of UI in Netscape and Firefox Browsers
- Fix Bug -> When pinging an unreachable address, web displayed "page-not-found".
- Fix Bug -> Under NAT menu, Virtual Server sub-menu - The “LAN IP ADDRESS” field contains with broken format.

v0.15a
- Change WMM default value to “DISABLE”.
- Add message to inform user that WMM and WDS can’t be enabled at the same time.
- Fix bug -> WEP over WDS is not working.
- Fix bug -> When running multiplayer game, system will reboot.
- Fix bug -> SSL port is permit, when SSL is not supported in the system.
- Fix Bug -> Upgrade firmware from telnet will fail.
- Fix Bug -> When click on SNMP menu, QOS menu will disappear.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
