The driver (SMC95X2.SYS) contained in the directory WINNT is for the following
SMC PCI Ethernet Adapter:

                 SMC TigerCard 1000

The driver (SMC95X2.SYS) conforms to the Network Driver Interface Specification
(NDIS) 4.0, and is used with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 on the X86 platform.

  Note : The NDIS 4.0 Minport Driver does not support the
         Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 platform.

(A) Installing the NDIS4 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Turn off your computer.   Insert the SMC9562TX/SMC9552TX in one of the
       PCI slots that support the "Bus Master" mode in your machine.
    2. Connect the RJ45 port of SMC9562TX/SMC9552TX to the network using a UTP cable
       (CAT5 cable for 100/1000Mbps,   CAT3/5 cable for 10Mbps network).
    3. Power on your computer.   Boot from Windows NT 4.0.
    4. After the NT 4.0 Desktop appears,   right click the "Network Neighborhood" icon.
       Select "properties".   Click the "Adapters" tab.
    5. Click the "Add" button to add an adapter.
    6. Click the "Have Disk" button.
    7. Insert the SMC9562TX/SMC9552TX Driver Diskette in the "A:" device.
    8. Specify the path that is "A:\WINNT" as the location for the SMC9562TX/SMC9552TX
       NDIS4 device driver,   OEMSETUP.INF and support files.   Click the "OK" button.
    9. From "Select OEM Option" page, select
       "SMC TigerCard 1000".
       Click the "OK" button to install the driver.
   10. Completing any necessary protocols configuration (e.g. TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBEUI).
   11. Binding the adapter to installed protocols and services by
       clicking the "Bindings" tab.   Click the "OK" button.
       Shutdown and restart the Windows NT 4.0.

       NOTICE!! C:\WINNT is the directory where your Windows NT 4.0
                O.S. is located.

(B) Configuring the NDIS4 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Right click on the 'Network Neighborhood' icon.
       Select 'Properties' from the menu.
    2. Click the "Adapters" tab in the 'Network' dialog box.
       Click the "Properties" button.
    3. Click "Advanced" tab in the 'Properties' dialog box.
       Set configuration parameters with the following steps:
       1). Select "Speed & Duplex".
           Select a item (Auto, 10 Mb Half, 10 Mb Full, 100 Mb Half, 100 Mb Full)
           in the "Value" field (default value is Auto).
       2). Select "Flow Control".
           Select a item (Disable, Rx Pause, Tx Pause, Rx/Tx Pause, Auto)
           in the "Value" field (default value is Disable).
       3). Select "Jumbo Mtu".
           Select a item (1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000)
           in the "Value" field (default value is 1500).
    4. Click the "Continue" button in the 'Properties' dialog box.
    5. Click the "OK" button in the 'Network' dialog box.
    6. Restart your computer to activate the new configuration.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
