The driver (SMC95X2.SYS) contained in the directory WIN95 is for the following
SMC PCI Ethernet Adapter:

                 SMC TigerCard 1000

The driver (SMC95X2.SYS) conforms to the Network Driver Interface Specification
(NDIS) 3.1, and is used with Microsoft Windows 95.

(A) Installing the NDIS4 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 95
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Turn off your computer.   Insert the SMC9562TX/SMC9552TX in one of the
       PCI slots that support the PCI "Bus Master" mode in your machine.
    2. Connecting the RJ45 port of SMC9562TX/SMC9552TX to the network using a UTP cable
       (CAT5 cable for 100M/1000Mbps,   CAT3/5 cable for 10Mbps network).
    3. Power on your compute.   Boot from Windows 95.   Windows 95 will
       find a new 'PCI Ethernet Controller' and displays the dialog box.
       Click the "Next" button.
    4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)" in the
       'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box,   then click the "Next" button.
    5. Insert the SMC9562TX/SMC9552TX Driver Diskette in your floppy device (e.g. A:\).
    6. Select "Specify a location".   Set driver Path to "A:\WIN95" in the
       'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.   Click the "Next" button.
    7. Click the "Next" button in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.
    8. Windows 95 will display
       "SMC TigerCard 1000"
       in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.
    9. Click the "Next" button in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.
       Windows 95 will copy the driver SMC95X2.SYS from A:\WIN95
       to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the SMC95X2.INF file from
       A:\WIN98 to the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory.
   10. When Windows 95 displays
       "SMC TigerCard 1000"
       in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box,   click the "Finish" button.
   11. Remove the SMC9562TX/SMC9552TX Driver Diskette from your floppy device.
   12. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

       NOTICE!! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 95
                O.S. is located.

(B) Configuring the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 95
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Click the 'Network Neighborhood', then Click into 'Properties' item.
    2. Double click the
       'SMC TigerCard 1000'
       item.
    3. Click the "Advanced" tab in the
       'SMC TigerCard 1000 Properties'
       dialog box.
       1). Select "802.1p QOS".
           Select a item (Disable, Enable)
           in the "Value" field (default value is Disable).
       2). Select "Checksum Offload".
           Select a item (None, Rx TCP/IP Checksum, Tx TCP/IP Checksum, Tx/Rx TCP/IP Checksum)
           in the "Value" field (default value is Tx TCP/IP Checksum).
       3). Select "Jumbo Mtu".
           Write a value (1500 - 4000) in the "Value" field (default value is 1500, step value is 500).
       4). Select "Speed & Duplex".
           Select a item (Auto, 10 Mb Half, 10 Mb Full, 100 Mb Half, 100 Mb Full)
           in the "Value" field (default value is Auto).
       5). Select "Wake Up Capabilities".
           Select a item (None, Magic Packet, Wake Up Frame, Both)
           in the "Value" field (default value is Both).
    4. Click the "OK" button in the 'Advanced' tab.
    5. Click the "OK" button in the
       'SMC TigerCard 1000 Properties'
       dialog box.
    6. Restart your computer to activate the new configuration.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
