(A) Installing the driver on UnixWare 7
================================================================
Notice: Please strictly follow the case of those commands and
        files' name, because UnixWare 7 is case-sensitive.

    1. Login to UNIX system as supervisor (root).
    2. Please follow the following steps to copy the package file:

       Notice: If Driver is placed in CD-ROM, it is recommended
               you copy the entire /UW7 folder onto a floppy disk.
               Then use the floppy disk to continue installation.

       (1)Insert the driver disk.
       (2)Mount the floppy disk by the following command:
      
          # mount -F dosfs /dev/fd0 /mnt
      
       (3)Copy the driver package file to /tmp directory.
   
          # cp /mnt/UW7/SMC1255S.PKG /tmp

    3. Install the driver package by following command:
   
       # pkgadd -d /tmp/SMC1255S.PKG

    4. Select the number of "s55s" and press <ENTER>.
    5. After package is added, run "netcfg".

       # netcfg

    6. Choose from menu "Hardware"->"Add new LAN adapter...".
    7. UnixWare 7 will automatically find the adapter and prompt
       "Ethernet-SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255FTX-SC)(1.0)". Click "Continue".
    8. Choose required Link Mode from the "Network Driver
       Configuration" dialog box and click "OK".
    9. Choose your required protocol from the "Add Protocol"
       dialog box and continue to set your networking
       configuration. Refer to related document in UnixWare 7
       for detail.
   10. After configuration is completed, a "Configure networking
       product" dialog box will appear to indicate successful
       configuration. Click "OK".
   11. "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255FTX-SC)" will be
       added to the list.
   12. Exit "Network Configuration Manager" and reboot system to
       make new configuration effect.

(B) Configuring the driver on UnixWare 7
================================================================
    1. Login to UNIX system as supervisor (root).
    2. Run "netcfg".

       # netcfg
       
    3. Highlight "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255FTX-SC)".
    4. Select from menu
       "Hardware"->"modify hardware configuration...".
    5. Choose required Link Mode from the "Network Driver
       Configuration" dialog box and click "OK".
    6. After configuration, a "Configure networking product"
       dialog box will appear to indicate successful
       configuration. Click "OK".
    7. Exit "Network Configuration Manager" and reboot system to
       make new configuration effect.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
