SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255FTX-SC) SCO OpenServer 5 Driver Installation Contents: --------- (A) Installing the driver on SCO OpenServer 5 (B) Configuring the driver on SCO OpenServer 5 (A) Installing the driver on SCO OpenServer 5 ================================================================ Notice: Please strictly follow the case of those commands and files' name, because SCO OpenServer 5 is case-sensitive. 1. Login to UNIX system as supervisor (root). 2. Follow the following steps to copy the package file: (1)Insert the driver disk. (2)Copy the driver package file to /tmp directory. Notice: If Driver is placed in CD-ROM, it is recommended you copy the entire /SCO5 folder onto a floppy disk. Then use the floppy disk to continue installation. # doscp X:/SCO5/SMC1255S.IMG /tmp/VOL.000.000 Notice-1: X: means the Floppy drive, such as: A:, or B: etc. 3. Install the driver package. (1)Run "custom" utility. (2)Select menu "Software" -> "Install New...". (3)Select "From <host name>", it should be the first option. Then click "Continue". Notice: <host name> is the actual host name of your SCO OpenServer. (4)Select "Media Image" in "Media Device" pull-down menu and click "Continue". (5)Enter the path "/tmp" containing the driver package (VOL.000.000) in the "Image Directory" box. (6)It will prompt with "SMC1255FTX-SC Device Driver(ver 1.0.0)", click "Install". (7)When system prompts "installation complete", click "OK". (8)"SMC1255FTX-SC Device Driver(ver 1.0.0)" will be added to the software list. (9)Exit "custom". 4. Install the adapter. (1)Run "netconfig". # netconfig (2)Select from menu "Hardware"->"Add new LAN adapter...". (3)SCO OpenServer 5 will automatically find the adapter and prompt "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255FTX-SC) Compatible". Click "Continue". (4)Choose required protocol from the "Add Protocol" dialog box and continue to set your networking configuration. Refer to related document in SCO Open Server 5. (5)After configuration, a "Configure networking product" dialog box will appear to indicate successful configuration. Click "OK". (6)"SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255FTX-SC) Compatible" will be added to the hardware list. (7)Exit "Network Configuration Manager". (8)Click "Yes" when asking "Do you want to re-link the kernel now?". (9)Type "y" and press <ENTER> when asking "Do you want this kernel to boot by default? (y/n)". (10)Type "y" and Press <ENTER> when asking "Do you want the kernel environment rebuilt? (y/n)". (11)Press <ENTER> when re-link is completed. 5. Reboot system to make new configuration effect. (B) Configuring the driver on SCO OpenServer 5 ================================================================ 1. Login to UNIX system as supervisor (root). 2. Run "netconfig". # netconfig 3. Highlight "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255FTX-SC)". 4. Choose from menu "Hardware"->"modify hardware configuration". 5. Choose required Link Mode and click "OK". 6. When asking "Please verify adapter is set to the configuration just entered", click "OK". 7. After configuration, a "Configure networking product" dialog box will appear to indicate successful configuration. Click "OK". 8. Exit "Network Configuration Manager". 9. Click "Yes" when asking "Do you want to re-link the kernel now?". 10. Type "y" and Press <ENTER> when asking "Do you want this kernel to boot by default? (y/n)". 11. Type "y" and Press <ENTER> when asking "Do you want the kernel environment rebuilt? (y/n)". 12. Press <ENTER> when re-link is finished. 13. Reboot system to make new configuration effect.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
