README.TXT - February 2001- Kensington VideoCAM Drivers for Windows 2000 Table of Contents ================= I. About This Release II. History of Changes III. Known Issues with this beta release IV. How to Report a Bug I. ABOUT THIS RELEASE ===================== This is a pre-release version of VideoCAM drivers for Windows 2000. Kensington is making this beta release publicly available in order to get as much feedback as possible regarding bugs and compatibility. We will work hard to identify and fix all major bugs before the final release. However, because this is not a final release, it has not yet undergone the level of internal testing we feel is adequate to ensure a problem-free experience. Therefore, we recommend that you treat this release as you would any other beta software. Be sure to back up any important files before installing this software. Do not use this release on a "mission critical" machine, because we cannot guarantee freedom from errors, crashes, or other anomalous behavior. Be sure to read the list of known issues below, as there are some features that are not yet working quite as expected. Finally, please provide us with feedback on any bugs you experience. This will help us to make the software as solid and reliable as we can. See below under "How to Report a Bug" for details. II. HISTORY OF CHANGES ====================== This is the first BETA driver release. It should provide basic video capture and twain functionality for the VideoCAM, VideoCAM VGA, and VideoCAM SVGA. III. KNOWN DRIVER PROBLEMS ========================= 1.The Microphone on SVGA will not work. 2.The twain device that is shown is named "Aox 401 Reference" When using twain compliant applications, choose this device. 3.The driver has not completed Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Testing and has not yet recieved a driver verification signature. Therefore you will recieve the Windows 2000 warning about the driver not being verified. It is okay to say install anyway. We are planning to have the final release comply to WHQL specs and recieve the driver signature. IV. HOW TO REPORT A BUG ======================= Bug reports should be sent to vc_beta@kensington.com.
