Preparing to Install
--------------------
1. Uninstall any previous SonicVibes software:
Drivers:
a. Place the SonicVibes CD in your CD-ROM drive.
b. Select Run from the Windows 95 Start Menu and enter:
D:\UNINSTAL.EXE {assuming your CD-ROM is your D:drive}
DLS Manager:
a. Select Settings | Control Panel from the Start menu.
b. Highlight "S3 DLS Manager Uninstall" and click Add/Remove.
2. Delete any files remaining in the subdirectory where the DLS Manager
had been installed.
3. Reboot your computer.
Installation
------------
1. Drivers:
a. Windows 95 will detect SonicVibes and display a screen.
b. Make sure that you select "Driver from disk provided by hardware
manufacturer" and click OK.
c. When prompted for the driver disk, "Browse" to your SonicVibes CD.
Click OK.
2. DLS Manager:
a. Select Run from the Start Menu and enter:
D:\DLSMGR\SETUP.EXE {assuming your CD-ROM is your D:drive}
b. When prompted by Setup, indicate the folder where you wish the
DLS Manager to be installed.
3. DOS Real-Mode Driver:
a. Select Run from the Start Menu and enter:
D:\DOS\SETUP.EXE {assuming your CD-ROM is your D:drive}
b. When prompted by Setup, indicate the folder where you wish the
DOS Real-Mode driver to be installed.
4. AudioStation 2 Application:
a. Select Run from the Start Menu and enter:
D:\VOYETRA\SETUP.EXE {assuming your CD-ROM is your D:drive}
b. When prompted by Setup, indicate the folder where you wish the
AudioStation 2 application to be installed.
Unresolved Issues
-----------------------------
S3 Audio Driver for Windows 95
20108 When attempting to autodetect the SonicVibes sound card in
Actua Soccer, an error dialog saying "SonicVibes in use..."
occurs in Windows.
20149 APM suspend/resume during DOS full screen GAME resets
instruments to Piano.
20154 Looping sound occurs when context switching from DOS full
screen Doom2 to Windows.
20163 If S3LEGACY.COM is not in autoexec.bat and the ROM option is
selectable even though there is no ROM, the user gets silence
when sound is expected.
WORKAROUND: Add S3LEGACY.COM to autoexec.bat or select a
1M RAM option.
S3 Audio Driver for DOS Real-Mode
20156 S3LEGACY.COM attempts to re-assign the resource to IRQ5 if the
PnP BIOS is pre-assigned IRQ 2 to S3 PCI Audio card. This will
cause a "stack overflow" and system lock up.
WORKAROUND: Install PCI audio on a different slot.
20157 S3LEGACY.COM fails to assign the legacy spaces on Phoenix BIOS's
which turn off "I/O Access Enabled Bit".
20158 Phoenix BIOS fails to call routing of IRQ.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
