KNOWN BUGS

No known bugs as of July 31, 1996

INSTALLATION

1. Removing previous drivers before installation.
(This step only needs to be done if other sound card drivers
have been installed previously) Delete the
\windows\inf\oem?.inf files associated with the other sound
card drivers. In the Control Panel | System | Device
Manager, remove any installed drivers listed under "Sound,
    video and game controllers".

2. Reboot or restart your computer. As Windows 95 restarts,
you may see a window explaining that windows is "Building
    Driver information database".

3. A window will show "New Hardware Found", AD1815,
and ask where the driver should be copied from. Select
"Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer", and
"OK". When it asks "Install From Disk", select "A:\" and
    "OK".

4. Windows 95 will copy the driver and -.inf files onto the
hard disk. Next, Windows 95 will find an mpu-401 controller
and gameport joystick. For each item, an installation
window should appear, which says: "Windows has found new
hardware and is installing the software for it" or asks
whether to use the Windows Default driver. (Select yes)

5. You will be able to tell that the driver is installed
because a speaker horn will show on the task bar adjacent to
the time, because you will be able to play sounds using the
"Sounds" item on the Control Panel, and because under the
System item on the Control Panel, you will be able to run
the Device Manager and see that there is a Sound System
driver available under "Sound, video and game controllers".

CUSTOMIZATION of the Mediarack Mixer:

The AD1815 driver supports user customizable Mixer definitions.
The file WPUNIMIX.INI contains the names of all controls
defined for the AD1815 driver. Using this tool, it is possible to
reduce the number of controls displayed by the mixer.
Modifications can be made to the display states of all the mixer's
sources, destinations and controls.

Any of three properties for each control can be changed.

These three properties are of the form:

<short-name>ShortName=Volume
<short-name>LongName=Stereo Mix Volume
<short-name>Disable=1

Where <short-name> is the "original" short name for the line or control.

For example, if you wanted to rename the "Aux1 Volume" control to
refer to the Internal CD play connection, make the following changes
to the WPUNIMIX.INF file.

Volume ControlShortName=IntCD
Volume ControlLong=Computers Internal CD

If you wanted to remove a control from the Mixer,
the following example shows how that is accomplished:

Modem VolumeDisable=1

A WPUNIMIX.INI file must be built and placed in the C:\Windows\system directory for Windows 95.
A suggested wpunimix.ini file is enclosed in this release disk.

Simply copy this file into your C:\WINDOWS directory.
After that, you can customize it using the instructions above.
