or available when the user documentation shipped with this
product was written. This text file includes update
information, additional installation instructions,
limitations to the current version of the product, and
suggestions to solve known issues or problems.

1. SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION
1.1 About this software
The ORINOCO Communications Quality Indicator (CQI) is
a diagnostic tool that you can use to verfiy the quality
of your wireless radio connection to the ORINOCO network.
The ORINOCO CQI tool can be installed on any computer
running the MS-Windows 95 or 98 operating system, which
has been equipped with a Lucent Technologies wireless
ORINOCO PC Card.
The ORINOCO CQI tool will automatically be installed
together with your ORINOCI PC Card drivers.
1.2 Files Installed
The ORINOCO CQI tool installation is managed via an
installation wizard that will automatically be activated
upon first-time installation of the ORINOCO PC Card.
Alternatively, you can choose to start the installation
wizard by double-clicking the setup.exe file on your
ORINOCO CD-ROM in the folder:
\software\pc_card\cqi\disk1
The installation wizard will automatically install the
program files in the following directory on the hard disk
of your computer:
c:\program files\orinoco\cqi
Optionally you may choose to select another folder or
hard disk drive for installation of the ORINOCO CQI
software.
The following files will be installed in the specified
directory:
* CQI.EXE
* M_PHONE.ICL
* MODEM.ICL
* S_DISC.ICL
* S_SMILEY.ICL
* STATUS.ICL
* README.TXT
Together with the ORINOCO CQI software, the installation
wizard will install the ORINOCO online help system that
provides context-sensitve and task-oriented help for
installing an ORINOCO wireless network.
The help files will be installed in the following
directory:
c:\windows\help\orinoco
The ORINOCO online help system is in HTML format.
To view the help screens you will need to have an
internet browser installed, such as:
* The Microsoft Internet Explorer (v4.0 or higher)
* The Netscape Navigator (v4.0 or higher)
Alternatively, you may choose to use another type of
browser, but it will depend on the supported features
of such browsers whether the help files will display
correctly.

2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Operating System
To install and run the ORINOCI CQI software you will
need the Microsoft Windows 95 or 98 operating system.
Support for other operating systems will become
available in a future release.
2.2 Free Disk Space
The installation of the ORINOCO CQI program requires a
free disk space of approximately 3.5 Mb:
* 300 Kb for the ORINOCO CQI application
* 3 Mb for the ORINOCO help system
2.2 Internet Browser
The ORINOCO online help system is in HTML format.
To view the help screens you will need to have an
internet browser installed, such as:
* The Microsoft Internet Explorer (v4.0 or higher)
* The Netscape Navigator (v4.0 or higher)
Alternatively, you may choose to use another type of
browser, but it will depend on the supported features

4. INSTALLATION NOTES
4.1 Standard Installation
Installation procedures are described in the 'Getting
Started Guide' or 'User's Guide' that came with your
ORINOCO product. Please refer to these documents for
information about installing and configuring your
ORINOCO product.
ORINOCO User documentation is also available in
electronic format on the ORINOCO Web Site
(http://www.lucent.com/orinoco)
You can download the documentation in Adobe's Acrobat
Portable Document Format (PDF).
To view or print PDF files you will need the freeware
Acrobat Reader included on this CD-ROM. Alternatively
you can download the Acrobat Reader from the Adobe
Web Site (http://www.adobe.com/acrobat).
4.2 Removing the ORINOCO CQI Software
To remove the ORINOCO CQI Software proceed as follows:
1) Click the "Start" butoon on your Windows task bar,
point to "Settings" and select "Control Panel".
2) In the Control Panel window, double-click the
"Add/Remove" icon to display the "Add/Remove
Program Prperties" window.
3) Scroll down the list of applications in the
lower section of the "Install/Uninstall" tab, and
select the item ORINOCO CQI
4 Next click the "Add/Remove" button, and follow the
instructions on your screen.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
