Instructions for Installing IBM WIRELESS ISA ADAPTER on WINDOWS 95 NOTE: This adapter is NOT plug-and-play. 1: The ISA adapter is shipped with default switch settings: IRQ 5 ADDRESS D000-D1FF You must verify these setting as you install the hardware into your PC. You should also verify the lack of conflicts at these settings. If conflicts exist, these settings should be changed PRIOR to hardware installation and recorded for driver configuration. 2: Install the hardware in any available slot. 3: Apply power to the machine and Windows 95 should NOT detect the new hardware. Go to CONTROL PANEL either by clicking on START, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL OR, clicking on MY COMPUTER, and CONTROL PANEL. 4: Select ADD NEW HARDWARE - Select NEXT 5: Win95 can search for your hardware but it will not find this network card. To save time, select NO Select NEXT. 6: Select NETWORK ADAPTERS Select NEXT 7: At the Select Device screen, select HAVE DISK. Insert the WIN95 Driver Diskette into the A drive and Select OK at the Install From Disk window. 8: Select the ARLAN 2.4GHx ISA Wireless LAN 9: At the Add New Hardware Wizard, review the resource settings displayed. These are the default selections for the DRIVER. They may not match your card. If they DO NOT match, you can change them later in the process. Select NEXT 10: At the ARLAN 2.4 GHz Wireless LAN Properties window insure that the BUS TYPE is ISA, DATA RATE is either 1Mbit or 2Mbit RADIO CHANNEL must be set, acceptable values are 1 thru 5. This must match your network values. SYSTEM ID must be set to match the SYSTEM ID of the network. 11: WIN95 will now copy files from the diskette. You may be asked to insert your WIN95 diskettes OR indicate the path to the WIN95 System files on your harddisk. 12: If WIN95 could not find the AWCA.INF file on the harddisk, select the A: drive. 13: WIN95 should now be finished installing the hardware. IF you need to make changes to the settings as indicated in number 9 above, select NO at the SYSTEM SETTINGS CHANGE window indicating you do NOT want WIN95 to shut down the computer. 14: To change the settings for the card, select SYSTEM on the CONTROL PANEL window. Then select the DEVICE MANAGER tab. Highlite the ARLAN 2.4GHz ISA WIRELESS LAN adapter and click on PROPERTIES. 15: Select the RESOURCES tab: Change the Resource setting to match that of the card. As you change them, WIN95 will inform you if there are conflicts. If conflicts DO EXIST, you MUST select values that have no conflicts AND CHANGE THE HARDWARE TO MATCH !!. To change the MEMORY RANGE, double click on MEMORY RANGE and select the range you want by clicking on the up and down arrows next to the range. To change the INTERRUPT REQUEST, double click on INTERRUPT REQUEST and select the range you want by clicking on the up and down arrows next to the range. When done, click on OK. 16: WIN95 will now ask you if you want to shut down so that the changes can take effect. Select YES. 17: At the "IT'S NOW SAFE TO TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER" message, you can either reboot with CTL-ALT-DEL after you remove the disktte from the A drive or, turn off the machine to make those changes to the card settings if needed. 18: The network card is now configured. You must now configure the network protocols to match the particular network you are connecting to. See the WIN95 Help screens for details on that configuration.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
