Modem Driver Installation Guide

This WinCruise V.90 SL modem driver will automatically detect the type of CPU and take advantage of the MMX enhancements if available. The minimum CPU (processor) requirement for desirable performance is 200 MHz Pentium or equivalent.

Before install this updated modem driver, be sure to remove the previous modem drivers by following appropriate uninstallation procedure specified in the previous modem driver installation guide.

After the previous modem driver is removed, restart the Windows. The Windows will automatically detect the PCI card and prompt you to install the drivers for it. Follow the "Hardware Wizard" installation instructions on the screen to continue.

1. When "PCI Communication Device" detected by PnP from Windows(r)98, Click on <Next> button.

2. Select "Search the best driver for your device", then click on <Next>.

3. Click on <Browse> button; the process of installation then will continue.

4. Enter the location of the modem driver, i.e. the directory or folder contains the decompressed modem driver files, e.g. C:\WCRUZSL, then click on <OK>.

5. Click on <Next> button to next screen.

6. Click on <Next> button to continue.

7. Microsoft Windows(r) recognizes this modem. Click on <Finish>.

If the Windows did not show you new hardware found message, you may need to see if you have by pass the message screen. Go to the "Control Panel" "System" "Device Manager" and you may see a Yellow Exclamation or Question mark in front of the Other Device. Click on the "Other Device", if there is an item called PCI Communication device, click on it and remove. Restart the Windows, so the modem will be detected again and prompt you to install proper drivers. Repeat step 1 through 7.

If there are other system items such as PCI Bridge and IRQ Steering in the other device with proper driver installed, reinstall those system drivers before remove and reinstall the modem drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
