This file describes the latest information for the DSD Playback Plug-in. 
Please read this before using the DSD Playback Plug-in.

1) About This Program

- By installing this program, you can play DSD files (extension: *.dsf) 
  on Windows Media Player.

2) Before Using the DSD Playback Plug-in

- System Requirements
 
   - This program is designed to only run on a VAIO computer 
     with a standard installation of Windows XP.
     The other systems are not guaranteed.

   - This program can be run only on a VAIO computer equipped with  
     Sound Reality, an audio device.

3) Important Notes

- Installation

  - To install this program, you must log on using an Administrator User 
    Account.

- DSD Files Playback

  - DSD files cannot be played on Windows Media Player in the following cases:

    - When a program other than Windows Media Player plays or records 
      a DSD format file

    - When Sound Reality is used in the ASIO mode with a program other than 
      Windows Media Player

  - If an audio device other than Sound Reality is selected as the default device 
    for sound playback on the Audio tab page of the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties 
    sheet located in the Control Panel, the DSD playback volume cannot be adjusted 
    using the volume adjustment feature in Media Center.

  - The sound from this system or another program cannot be output while playing 
    a DSD file on Windows Media Player.


- CD creation with Windows Media Player

 - When adding DSD files, you can create a data CD using the writing function 
   of Windows Media Player. However, this data CD is not compliant with 
   DSD Disc specifications.

4) Known Issues

 - When playing a DSD file on Windows Media Player, visualization of 
   the Now Playing feature is not available.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
