Midiman BiPort 2x4/s Serial Interface Driver Installation
=========================================================

WINDOWS XP INSTALLATION
-----------------------
 1.Boot Windows XP.
 2.Click on the "Start" button in the task bar.
 3.Select the "Control Panel".
 4.Double click open the "Add Hardware" icon.
 5.When the Add Hardware Wizard starts, click
    the "Next" button.
 6.Wait while Windows performs a search for new hardware
    on your computer. But, since the serial interface of
    the BiPort 2x4/S is not plug and play, the wizard
    will not find it.
 9.When the search is completed, Windows will ask if the
    hardware is connected, select the "Yes, I have already
    connected the hardware" item & click the "Next" button.
10.When the New hardware Wizard displays a list of hardware
    already installed on you computer select the "Add a new
    hardware device" item and click the "Next" button.
11.When asked if you want Windows to search for and install
    the hardware automatically, select the "Install the
    hardware that I manually select from a list" item and
    click the "Next" button.
12.On the Hardware Type dialog select "Sound, video and game
    controllers" item and click the "Next" button.
13.When asked to Select a Device Driver, click the
    "Have Disk..." button.
14.You will be prompted for disk drive where the vendor provided
    driver is located, browse to or enter appropriate disk drive
    specification and click "OK".
15.When the "software has not passed Windows XP Logo
    testing" message pops up, push the "Continue Anyway"
    button to indicate that you want to continue the
    installation.
16.When the "Select a Device Driver" window pops up
    select the "Midiman BiPort 2x4/S MIDI Driver"
    entry & click "Next" button.
17.The next window indicates it is ready to install the
    Midiman BiPort 2x4/S MIDI Driver, so click the
    "Next" button.
18.When the "software has not passed Windows XP Logo
    testing" message pops up, push the "Continue Anyway"
    button to indicate that you want to continue the
    installation.
19.The installation wizard will copy the appropriate files
    and will then start the Midiman BiPort 2x4/S Driver
    Setup dialog.
20.If you have not yet done so, connect the serial interface
    of the BiPort 2x4/S to one of the COM ports of your PC
    & power up the BiPort.
21.On the Midiman BiPort 2x4/S Driver Setup dialog box
    select the COM port to which the BiPort has been
    connected; also use the "Merge/Unmerge" button to
    select if you want all of the BiPort inputs to
    be merged into the single  In-1  Midi input port or
    if you would like Midi input data being received on
    each interface to be sent to their individual Midi
    input ports.
21.If you are connecting more than one BiPort 2x4/S
    units, click on the "Add" button & setup appropriate
    configuration for the additional BiPort(s).
22.When done configuring your BiPort 2x4/S unit(s),
    click the "OK" button.
23.The Add hardware Wizard will request that you click
    the "Finish" button to complete the installation.
24.In order for the driver installation to be completed
    you will be required to exit and restart Windows.

WINDOWS XP CONFIGURATION CHANGES
--------------------------------
 1.Boot Windows XP.
 2.Click on the "Start" button in the task bar.
 3.Select the "Control Panel".
 4.Double click open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon.
 5.Select "Hardware" tab.
 6.Select "Midiman BiPort 2x4/S MIDI Driver" item.
 7.Click on the "Properties" button.
 8.Select the "Properties" tab.
 9.Click on "+" sign next to Midi Devices & Instruments.
10.Select "Midiman BiPort 2x4/S MIDI Driver" item.
11.Click on the "Properties" button.
12.Select the "General" tab.
13.Click on the "Settings" button.
14.Use the Midiman BiPort 2x4/S Driver Setup dialog box
    to make the appropriate configuration changes, then
    click on the "OK" button.
15.In order for the driver configuration changes to be
    completed you will be required to exit and restart
    Windows.



WINDOWS 2000 INSTALLATION
-------------------------
 1.Boot Windows 2000.
 2.Click on the "Start" button in the task bar.
 3.Click open the "Settings" item.
 4.Select the "Control Panel".
 5.Double click open the "Add/Remove Hardware" icon.
 6.When the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard starts,
    click the "Next" button.
 7.When asked to Choose a Hardware Task dialog, select
    "Add/Troubleshoot a device" item & click "Next" button.
 8.Wait while Windows performs a search for plug and play
    hardware. But, since the serial interface of the BiPort
    2x4/S is not plug and play, the wizard will not find it.
 9.When the search is completed, select the "Add a new device"
    item and click the "Next" button.
10.When asked if you want Windows to search for your new
    hardware, select "No, I want to select the hardware from
    a list" item and click the "Next" button.
11.On the Hardware Type dialog select "Sound, video and game
    controllers" item and click the "Next" button.
12.When asked to Select a Device Driver, click the
    "Have Disk..." button.
13.You will be prompted for disk drive where the vendor provided
    driver is located, browse to or enter appropriate disk drive
    specification and click "OK".
14.When the "Digital Signature Not Found" window pops up push
    the "Yes" button to indicate that you want to continue the
    installation.
15.When the "Select a Device Driver" window pops up
    select the "Midiman BiPort 2x4/S MIDI Driver"
    entry & click "Next" button.
16.The next window indicates it is ready to install the
    Midiman BiPort 2x4/S MIDI Driver, so click the
    "Next" button.

 6.Select the "Device" tab.
 7.Click on the "Add..." button.
 8.Select the "Unlisted or Updated Driver" entry and push "OK",
 9.You will be prompted for disk drive where the vendor provided
    driver is located, browse to or enter appropriate disk drive
    specification and click "OK".
10.When the "Add Unlisted or Updated Driver" window pops up
    select the "Midiman BiPort 2x4/S MIDI Driver" entry
    & click "OK".
11.The installation wizard will copy the appropriate files & will
    then start the Midiman BiPort 2x4/S Driver Setup dialog.
12.If you have not yet done so, connect the serial interface
    of the BiPort 2x4/S to one of the COM ports of your PC
    & power up the BiPort.

10.Click on the "Properties" button.
11.Select the "General" tab.
12.Click on the "Settings" button.
13.Use the Midiman BiPort 2x4/S Driver Setup dialog box
    to make the appropriate configuration changes, then
    click on the "OK" button.

    completed you will be required to exit and restart

WINDOWS NT VER 3.51 INSTALLATION

 1.Boot Windows NT Ver 3.51.
 2.Double click open the "Main" group.
 3.Double click open the "Control Panel".
 4.Double click open the "Drivers" icon.
 5.Click on the "Add" button.
 6.Select the "Unlisted or Updated Driver" entry and push "OK".
 7.You will be prompted for disk drive where the vendor provided
    driver is located, browse to or enter appropriate disk drive
    specification and click "OK".
 8.When the "Add Unlisted or Updated Driver" window pops up
    select the "Midiman BiPort 2x4/S MIDI Driver" entry
    & click "OK".
 9.The installation wizard will copy the appropriate files & will
    then start the Midiman BiPort 2x4/S Driver Setup dialog.
10.If you have not yet done so, connect the serial interface
    of the BiPort 2x4/S to one of the COM ports of your PC
    & power up the BiPort.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
