README.TXT For REALmagic (TM) Maxima Pro Driver 4/23/98

NOTE : This release has a modified VxD driver to handle the
display adapters based on 3DLabs chips. Be sure if you
are using Permedia 2 to select a specific refresh rate
and not just "Optimal" or "Default" otherwise this driver
will assume a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

I - SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
=====================
NOTE: i - If your system has a previous 32-bit REALmagic driver
installed (4.0b1 or b2), you can install the new driver
by using "Change Driver" in the Device Manager.
Steps are: Open the "System" Control Panel.
Then, click the "Device Manager" tab,
double-click on "Sound, video, and game
controllers" and select "REALmagic..."
Click the "Driver" tab and click the
"Change Driver" button. Select "Have
disk ..." and follow instructions.
ii - If your system has a previous 16-bit driver installed,
run DELOLDRM.EXE (included on this diskette), remove the
REALmagic decoder from the Device Manager, install as
per next section. The Device Manager can be found in
the second tab of the "System" Control Panel.
Win 95
------
After the hardware installation do the following :
1. Boot your system.
2. After the Windows 95 logo displays, the system will recognize
that a new board was installed. This is the Plug-N-Play feature of
the REALmagic Maxima Pro board. You will see a window labeled
"New Hardware Found," with the "REALmagic Pro" signature.
3. Choose the option "Driver from disk provided by hardware
manufacturer".
4. Click OK.
5. The "Install from Disk" window will appear. Insert the REALmagic
driver diskette into your floppy drive. Make sure the text box
specifies the correct drive specifier ( e.g. A:\). Click OK.
6. The "Select Device" dialog box should appear. Select Maxima PRO.
7. Windows will copy the files.
8. Run the program SETUP from the second diskette.
II - BORDER ADJUSTMENT AND COLOR CALIBRATION
=======================================
1 - After rebooting, start "Border Adjust" from the REALmagic
group.
2 - Use the arrow keys or click with the mouse the proper
buttons to align the black rectangle on top of the
magenta rectangle, so that it covers the black borders
of the magenta window.
3 - To change the width of the black to match the width of the
magenta window, press the +/- keys or click the proper
buttons to adjust the width. Click OK.
4 - Click on "Auto Calibration" for the color calibration.
5 - The "Advance" button contains more detailed color calibration,
chroma key color adjustment and border adjustment options.
6 - Adjust the Brightness, Contrast, and Color Saturation (not
for Maxima) as well as the volume and balance of the MPEG
audio.
NOTE 1: You must set the Border Adjustment and Color Calibration
settings to finalize the installation. You need to do this
once for each display setting used (resolution, number of
colors, and refresh rate) under Windows.
NOTE 2: You can call the "Border Adjust & Calibration" program from
the Media Player (option Device - Properties) and from
the CD Station (click on the Options button and click on
the Settings tab).
III - CHANGING A RESOURCE (Advanced Users Only)

If you wish to change a resource (I/O address or/and IRQ number)
assigned by the Plug N Play feature, do the following:
1- Open the "System" Control Panel.
2- Choose Device Manager and double-click on "Sound, video, and game
controllers".
3- Double-click on "REALmagic Pro"
4- Select the tab labeled "Resources".
5- Double-click on the required resource. Click "Change Settings".
6- Modify the settings to the required value. Make sure there is
NO conflict specified in the Conflict Information box. Click OK.
7- Reboot.
IV - Modifications Made to Your System by Installation

Installation of the REALmagic MPEG accelerator cards will:
1 - Add the following files in the \WIN95\SYSTEM directory:

2 - Add the REALmagic card in the SOUND, VIDEO AND GAME
CONTROLLERS section of the Device Manager.
3 - Add these registry keys in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE" :

6 - For Windows 95 release A, a REALmagic MPEG adapter-related
OEM INF file is in the Win95\Inf directory.
For Windows 95 release B, OSR2, the REALmagic MPEG adapter-
related INF file is in the Win95\Inf\Other directory.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
