README.TXT VERSION 2.2 Installing The 10/100 Base-TX CardBus Ethernet Network Driver This file describes how to install 10/100 Base-TX CardBus Ethernet Network Card that completes your notebook PC to network. Before You Install the Network Driver Make sure which network driver you should use. The drivers for each OS environment are provided on the list: Windows 95 version 4.00.950 or 4.00.950a Windows 95 version 4.00.950b or OSR2 Windows NT version Windows 98 Windows 98_ME Windows 2000 NetWare ODI Client NDIS2 linux ======================================================================= Windows 95 Installation: 1. Make sure that the 10/100 PC Card is inserted. 2. In the Update Device Driver Wizard window, click Next. If this window does not appear, click System and then click Reflesh. 3. Click Other Locations 4. Inster the OEM diskette in the floppy drive. Choose the directory "a:\win95" and click OK. 5. In the copying files window, type "a:\win95b" and click OK. 6. If prompted, supply the Windows 95 CD-ROM or type the directory path to the Windows 95 files on your PC and click OK. 7. In the Update Device Driver Wizard, click Finish. 8. Remove the OEM diskette and restart computer. ======================================================================= Windows 98 Installation: 1. Make sure that the 10/100 PC Card is inserted. 2. In the Add Hardware Device Driver Wizard window, click Next. If this window does not appear, click System and then click Reflesh. 3. Click the recommanded item and Next. 4. Inster the OEM diskette in the floppy drive. Type the directory "a:\win98" and click OK. 5. In the copying files window, type "a:\win98" and click OK. 6. If prompted, supply the Windows 98 CD-ROM or type the directory path to the Windows 98 files on your PC and click OK. 7. In the Update Device Driver Wizard, click Finish. 8. Remove the OEM diskette and restart computer. ======================================================================= Windows 98_ME Installation: 1. Make sure that the 10/100 PC Card is inserted. 2. In the Add Hardware Device Driver Wizard window, click Next. If this window does not appear, click System and then click Reflesh. 3. Click the recommanded item and Next. 4. Inster the OEM diskette in the floppy drive. Type the directory "a:\win98_me" and click OK. 5. In the copying files window, type "a:\win98_me" and click OK. 6. If prompted, supply the Windows 98_ME CD-ROM or type the directory path to the Windows 98_ME files on your PC and click OK. 7. In the Update Device Driver Wizard, click Finish. 8. Remove the OEM diskette and restart computer. ======================================================================= Windows 2000 1. Start the computer, insert the 10/100 Fast Ethernet CardBus PC Card into a slot, make sure the card is securely inserted into the socket. Windows 2000 will show "Found New Hardware". This PC card uses Realtek RTL8139 IC which has driver built-in Windows 2000. Windows 2000 will automatically install the driver. The driver can run ok, but without the function of ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface). If the user is satisfied with this driver, then the installation is completed. The user does NOT need to go through following steps. Please restart the computer and the network function will be ready. 2. If the user wants to accommodate ACPI function into the 10/100 Fast Ethernet CardBus PC Card. Then the user needs to update the driver to which we support in the driver diskette. Please select "My Computer" then "Control Panel" then "System", then "Hardware", then "Device Manager", then select "Network adapters", and select "Realtek RTL8139(A)-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter". 3. Click "Action" and then click "Properties". 4. In the properties window, select "Driver", and click "Update Driver". 5. Windows 2000 will show "Welcome to the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard", Click "Next". 6. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device" and click "Next" . 7. Insert the driver disk and select the location where the driver is located, then click "Next". 8. Key in the driver location "A:\Win2000" and click "Next". 9. The windows found the driver, click "Next" to continue. 10. Digital signature not found, click "Yes" to continue the installation. 11. Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. After copying the driver files, the device installation is completed, click "Finish". 12. The Device Manager window pops up, please check "Network adapters", if "Fast Ethernet CardBus PC Card" is presented, then the update driver operation is OK. 13. Restart the computer and the 10/100 Fast Ethernet CardBus PC Card will be ready ======================================================================= NetWare ODI Client Installation: 1. Make sure that the 10/100 PC Card is inserted. 2. Check your system config config.sys. In order not to conflict with emm386, remark the the line "device=c:\dos\emm386" as " rem device=c:\dos\emm386" or edit it as "device=c:\dos\emm386 x=d000-d3ff" 3. Save it and reboot your PC. 4. Inster the OEM diskette in the floppy drive. Choose the directory "a:\nwclient". 5. Copy all files to your local directory. 6. Execute startnet.bat, and the driver is installed. ======================================================================== Installing the NDIS2 driver for CardBus card is the same as for PCI card, in addition to the following steps: After install driver in Microsoft Client or Windows 3.11 1. Check config.sys and remove the argument "NOEMS" of EMM386.sys 2. Copy rtpci.exe and rtbios.com to any directory. Example c:\wfw311 3. In autoexec.bat, add two lines of command, "rtpci /md000 /i11" and "rtbios" in front of "net start" and "net initialize". Example: If only "net start" exists, : : c:\wfw311\rtpci.exe /md000 /i11 c:\wfw311\rtbios.com c:\wfw311\net start : : or if "net initialize" exists, : : c:\wfw311\rtpci.exe /md000 /i11 c:\wfw311\rtbios.com c:\wfw311\net initialize : : 4. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
