Overview

This is the keyboard driver that allows the shortcut keys at the top of the keyboard to function.  The driver that allows the rest of the keyboard to function is built into the operating system, and this driver has no effect on the rest of the functionality of the keyboard.


Installation

1.  Close all open windows, except this readme.txt file if instructions are needed.

2.  If you have not already done so, locate and double-click the 7508438.exe file that you downloaded from the Internet.  This file should be located on your desktop.  Files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\7508438 folder.

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7508438\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

5.  In InstallShield Self-Extracting EXE dialog box, click Yes.

6.  In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

7.  In Readme Information dialog box, click Next.

8.  In the Setup Complete dialog box, Click Finish.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.  

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.  In Windows Me, if you do not see this icon, click View all Control Panel options.

3.  In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, from the list of installed programs, select Gateway Multi-function Keyboard, and then click Add/Remove or Change/Remove.

4.  In the Multi-Function Keyboard dialog box, click Yes to approve the removal of the drivers.

5.  In the Multi-Function Keyboard dialog box, click Yes.

6.  Close all windows, and then restart the computer.


Troubleshooting

Verify that the applications to which the shortcut keys are mapped work by themselves.  Also, try downloading the file again, follow the removal procedure, and then reinstall the driver following all of the installation steps.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
