READ ME FIRST.txt Driver File Contents (ScanExpress12000P.zip)

To be honest, I have pulled my hair out trying to get my MUSTEK SCANNER
12000P to work on Windows XP. I finally succeeded after hours of 
perseverance.

If you follow these instructions then you will as well in a lot less
time then it took me. So set up and enjoy :o)

		     (Click File above then Print)


1. Click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Type in "regedit" (without the exclamation marks) and click OK.

   AT THIS POINT DON'T DO ANYTHING IRRATIONAL - MOST IMPORTANT.
		      FOLLOW VERY CAREFULLY

4. Click on "+" before HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
5. click on "+" before SOFTWARE
6. click on "+" before Microsoft
7. click on "+" before Windows NT
8. click on the wording (not the + sign) CurrentVersion

	      NOW USE THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE SCREEN

9.  Right Click on ProductName (This will reveal a menu).
10. Left Click on Modify
11. Change "Microsoft Windows XP" to "Microsoft Windows 2000"
12. Click OK
13. Close Registry Editor by clicking RED CROSS in top right hand
    corner.

14. Now insert drivers that came with this read me first note.
15. After completeion...Restart your computer.

      WE HAVE NOW TO REVERT BACK TO WINDOWS XP IN REGISTERS

16. Follow instructions 1 to 10 again above.
17. Change "Microsoft Windows 2000" to "Microsoft Windows XP"
18. Close Registry Editor by clicking RED CROSS in top right hand
    corner.
19. Restart your computer.
20. You should now be operational.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
