Overview

This is the Integrated SoundMAX audio driver for Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional.


Identification

To determine if this driver applies to your computer, please perform the following steps.

1.  Open Control Panel.

 a.  From the Windows XP default Start menu, click Control Panel.
 b.  From the classic Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, open the System Properties dialog box.

 a.  If the computer is in Category View, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
 b.  If the computer is in Classic View, double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

4.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers.

5.  Under Sound, video and game controllers, locate the Intel(r) 82801 BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller or SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio Device.  If you see these devices, this is the correct driver.  If you do not see either device, this driver may not apply to the computer or there may be other issues.


Installation

1.  Download the file to the desktop.

2.  On your screen, locate and double-click the 7511779.exe file.

3.  In the Win-Zip Self Extractor dialog box, click Unzip to expand the files to the C:\Cabs\7511779 folder.

4.  In the 19 file(s) Unzipped dialog box, click OK.

5.  In the Win-Zip Self Extractor dialog box, click Close.

6.  Quit all open programs.

7.  From the Start menu, click Run.

8.  In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type: C:\Cabs\7511779\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

Note: If there is a previous version installed, you are prompted to uninstall the old driver before installing the new driver.  In the Removal dialog box, click Yes.  When the removal is complete, click Finish.  An InstallShield Wizard dialog box may also open.  If so, click Remove, and then click Next.  The driver is removed.  When complete, click Finish.  If you ran either removal, repeat step 8 to start the installation.

9.  In the SoundMAX Install dialog box, click Next.

10.  After the drivers are installed, select Yes, and then click Finish.

11.  After the computer restarts, test the sound.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.  

2.  In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type: C:\Cabs\7511779\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  The setup program prompts you to remove the drivers.  In the Removal dialog box, click Yes.

4.  When the removal is complete, click Finish.

Note: An InstallShield Wizard dialog box may also open.  If so, click Remove, and then click Next.  The driver is removed.  When complete, click Finish.


Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty installing the new driver, download the file again, and then follow the Installation steps.

How To Update Drivers Manually

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
