YOU, THE END USER, SHALL USE THIS SOFTWARE("THE SOFTWARE") ACCORDING TO THE
TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.

BY LOADING THE SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER, YOU ARE AGREEING TO BE BOUND BY
THESE TERMS.

IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MAY NOT LOAD THIS
SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER.

Grant of License
The Software is licensed for use by you for the equipment packaged with the
Software or designated by its supplier ("the equipment"). You are permitted to
use the Software on any computer which permits electronic access to the
equipment. You are not permitted to rent or lease the Software or to transfer
your rights under this license to a third party.

Acceptance
You shall be deemed to have accepted the terms of this Agreement by loading
the Software into any computer.

Duration
This license is effective until terminated. The license will terminate where
you fail to comply with the terms of this Agreement. Upon termination, you
agree to destroy all copies of the Software and its documentation.

Ownership of Software
You own, if any, only the magnetic media on which the Software has been
delivered. It is an express condition of this Agreement that the title and
ownership of the Software shall be retained by its owners.

Copying
The Software and its documentation are the subject of Copyright.

You may not make any copies nor cause others to make copies of the Software
except such copies as are necessary for licensed use and one copy for
operational security. Any such copies are subject to the conditions of this
Agreement.

You may not modify, adapt, merge, translate, reverse engineer, decompile,
disassemble or create derivative works based on the whole or any part of the
Software or its associated documentation.
You may be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement,
unauthorized transfer, reproduction or use of the Software or its
documentation.

Limitation of Warranty
The media, if any, not the Software contained therein, is warranted to the
original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship for a period
of one year from the date of original purchase. Defective media will be
replaced when it is returned to your supplier, postage prepaid, along
with a copy of the purchase receipt.

THESE RIGHTS ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY, WHETHER IN TORT, CONTRACT,
OR OTHERWISE. IN NO EVENT SHALL SUPPLIER, OWNER OF THE SOFTWARE OR ITS
LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES (INCLUDING ANY FOR LOSS OF INFORMATION,
PROFITS, SAVINGS OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER DIRECT, INDIRECT,
INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE OR
THE USE THEREOF, OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.

Exporting Law
You acknowledge that the export of the Software is governed by the export
control laws of the United States and other countries. You agree to comply
with all such export control laws.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction
If any provision or portion of this Agreement shall be found to be illegal,
invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force
and effect. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of California, USA
and is subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal District courts for the
Central District of California by a judge and not a jury.

This Readme file contains information about using WIA/TWAIN Scanner Driver for
Windows 2000/XP/Server2003/Vista. Please make sure to read this before
installing WIA/TWAIN Scanner Driver.

* Windows 3.1/95/98/98SE/Me and Windows NT3.51/4.0 are not supported.
* WIA function is disabled by default on Windows Server2003.
* We cannot guarantee proper operation of Terminal Server Edition, Terminal Service, and MetaFrame.
* Please use WIA driver on Windows x64 Operating Systems.
* Two drivers of TWAIN and WIA are installed on Windows x64 Operating Systems via USB connection.

** Please use WIA driver on Windows x64 Operating Systems.
** Two drivers of TWAIN and WIA are installed on Windows x64 Operating

TWAIN Scanner driver(**)

[Notes]
** TWAIN Scanner driver is a 32-bit driver. It is possible to install it
on Windows x64 Operating Systems, however, it cannot be used with a
64-bit application.
** It might operate well with a 32-bit application on Windows x64 Operating
Systems, however, proper operation of all the functions is not guaranteed.

(1) Installing WIA/TWAIN Scanner Driver at the first time.

(1)-1 Installation steps for Windows 2000/XP/Server2003/Vista driver for 32bitOS

If you are installing this product at the first time, please follow these steps;

- 1 Start Windows and log-on as Administrators .

- 2 Insert the CD-ROM into the CD ROM Drive.

- 3 A program starts automatically.

- 4 Please select the language used in your PC first and click the "next".

- 5 Select a button according to your desired connection form.
If you use a USB connection, click USB Quick Install (*).
If you use a network, click NetWork Quick Install(*).

- 6 Please follow the instructions on the screen.

[Notes]
* USB Quick Install and NetWork Quick Install do not support Windows x64
Operating Systems.

(1)-2 Installation steps for Windows 2000/XP/Server2003/Vista driver for
Windows x64 Operating Systems.

If you are installing this product at the first time, please follow
these steps;

- 1 Start Windows and log-on as Administrators .

- 2 Insert the CD-ROM into the CD ROM Drive.

- 3 A program starts automatically.

- 4 Please select the language used in your PC first and click the "next".

- 5 Operations are different depending on the desired connection form.

**** USB: ****

If you use a USB connection, close the program with the EXIT button.

Please connect your PC to a machine with USB cable, and turn ON the power of
the machine. When the power is already turned ON, please connect a USB
cable after turning it OFF. Then, turn it ON again.

Automatic installation (Plug and Play) of OS starts.

You are required to specify a scanner driver and a printer driver in automatic
installation.
Although the order of specifying drivers in automatic installation is supported
to be unspecified by OS, it is known that automatic installation is performed in
the order of scanner, printer in many cases.

In automatic installation (Plug and Play) of OS,

** In the case of Windows 2000 **

1 Click the [Next] button in the <New hardware search wizard starts to search> window.

2 Select the [Search for suitable driver for my device [recommended]] and
click the [Next] button in the <Install Hardware Drvice Drivers> window.

3 Select only [Specify a location] and click the [Next] button in
the <Locate Driver Files> window.

4 Select R3DTScan.inf file using the [Browse...] button as
[Copy manufacture's files from:] and click the [OK] button. (*)

5 Click the [Next] button. (**)

6 Click the [Finish] button.

-> Go on to <Install Printer Driver>.

[Notes]
* The R3DTScan.inf file of "4" to \DRIVERS\TWAIN\USB\PnP is stored in the
directory(folder) of driver CD.

** If the message that a driver is not found appears on the screen of "5",
the driver currently required for might be a printer driver.
In that case, click the "Back" button and perform <Install Printer Driver>.

** In the case of Windows XP (same as Server2003j**

1 Select the [No, not this time] and click the [Next] button in the
<Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard> window.

2 Confirm being displayed as "Scan" in the <This wizard helps you install
software for:] window.
<Install Printer Driver> will be performed if it is not "Scan".
If it is "Scan", you can confirm installing a scanner driver.

Select the [Install the software automatically [Recommended]] and click
the [Next] button.

3 The Scanner driver are installed.

4 Click the [Finish] button.

-> Go on to <Install Printer Driver>.

** In the case of Windowa Vista **

1 Comfirm the <Windows needs to install driver software for your "Scan">
in the <Found New Hardware> window.
In the above does not occur, please perform <Install Printer Driver>.

2 Click the [Continue] button in the <User Account Control> window.
(This screen might not appear depending on your environment.)

3 The [Driver Software Installation] window appears. Please leave it and
wait for a while.
Please do not click the "Close" button.

4 Click the [Next] button in the <Found New Hardware - Scan> window.

5 The Scanner driver is installed.

6 Click the [Finish] button.

-> Go on to <Install Printer Driver>.

[Notes]

The printer driver is stored in the \DRIVERS\xxxx\XP_VISTA\yyyy\DISK1
directory (folder) of driver CD. In the above-mentioned flow, installation
of a printer driver is achieved by specifying the inf file in this directory
(folder) .

It is a step of "4" on Windows 2000 in the above-mentioned explanation.
Although the inside of CD-ROM is searched on WindowsXP/Vista as mentioned above,
the printer driver cannot search in the CD-ROM.

Please specify the inf file or the directory (folder) of the inf file by yourself
in the step of searching in the CD-ROM.

* Supplementary explanation of \DRIVERS\xxxx\XP_VISTA\yyyy\DISK1 of CD *

You should set DDST, or either of PCL5c, PCL6, or PS to "xxxx".
Please specify the printer driver you wish.
"yyyy" indicates the language.
Please specify the language you wish.
We recommend you to specify "xxxx" and "yyyy" checking the contents
of the CD-ROM using the explorer, etc.

**** NetWork: ****

If you use a network connection, click the [NetWork TWAIN Driver] button.
Please follow the instructions on the screen.

TWAIN Scanner driver is a 32-bit driver. It is possible to install it on
Windows x64 Operating Systems, however, it cannot be used with a 64-bit
application.

** It might operate well with a 32-bit application on Windows x64
Operating Systems, however, proper operation of all the functions
is not guaranteed.

(2) If you are downloading an updated driver from our web site and performing
installation ;
(You are required to have completed the installation from CD.)

** In the case of Network connection **

- 1 Start Windows and log on as Administrators .

- 2 Download the updated driver from our web site.

- 3 Extract the downloaded file to any folders. The Downloaded file is
compressed with a tool.

- 4 Read the PDF file (*) in the de-compressed folder, which contains the
explanation of the updating installing. Please read it carefully and
continue the installation .

- 5 Follow the above-mentioned explanation to complete updating installation.

Please take care because both printer driver and twain driver are described
in the PDF file for installation(*)

** In the case of USB connection **

- 1 Start Windows and log on as Administrators .

- 2 Download the updated driver from our web site.

- 3 Extract the downloaded file to any folders. The Downloaded file is
compressed with a tool.

- 4 Please perform after-mentioned <Delete/Uninstall> driver from your PC.

- 5 Follow the above-mentioned "**** USB: ****" of "(1)-2 Installation steps for
Windows 2000/XP/Server2003/Vista driver for Windows x64 Operating Systems."
to complete updating installation.(There is no 32/64-bit distinction.)

* Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to browse the PDF file.
If you do not have it, please download it from the Adobe's web site.

Please delete the driver from "Add or Remove Programs"(*) leaving the power
of the machine ON.

* "Add or Remove Programs"(**) can start from control panel.

** The name is different depending the OS.

Windows 20000 :"Add/Remove Programs"
Windows XP :"Add or Remove Programs"
Windows Vista :"Programs and Features"

* With WIA/TWAIN driver, the drivers of different versions can't be used
together.

* If WIA/TWAIN driver's screen doesn't look normal after installation,
uninstall the driver and reinstall the driver.

* Do not extract CD-ROM before the installation is finished. Or else,
system error might occur.

* During installation of the driver, End User Licence Agreement might appear
in English. In this case, please confirm it in English.

* During loading with TWAIN scanner driver, when the scan is performed on one
or more ranges (Multiple crop areas sets), if it is canceled, the following
operation might not be performed correctly. In that case, close the driver
once, then restart it.
(eg:MS Office 2000)

* The preview screen image infrequently might be distorted.
Although it does not affect the scanning, we recommend that you not use
preview in that case.

* In the WIA driver, the feeder scan from "Automatic Document Feeder" might
not run normally. In that case, please scan from "Reflective".

* The WIA function is disabled by default on Windows Server2003.
When you use the WIA scanner driver, please perform the following operations
andenable the setting.

1. [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Administrative Tools] - Open [Services]
2. Open Properties of "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" .
3. Set [Startup type] to "Automatic" and click the [Apply] button
4. Click the [Start] button

* With TWAIN driver, when scanning two or more pages in ADF, depending on
application, it may be unable to scan correctly.

* During loading with TWAIN scanner driver, when the scan is performed on Multiple
crop areas sets, scanning operation might not be performed correctly at some
applications. In that case, set the one crop area set, then restart it.
(eg:MS Office 2000)

* There is a case where a dialog, an error message, etc. of a driver are displayed
behind application, and it becomes impossible to operate it.
In such a case, let the driver's UI choice by using "taskbar".
Or let it display in the front using the Key "Alt+TAB" or "Alt+ESC".
Please let it display and operate it.

* When scanning, [Cancel] button on the dialog sometimes does not work. In this
case, press the [Cancel] button a few times, and then you can abort the
scanning.

* When the driver dialog is displayed, press [Exit] button and close the
driver, before closing the application.

* When scanning on Microsoft Office2000, "Custom Insert" button should be selected.
Otherwise, a scan is not performed correctly.
