Description
-----------
If you have problems with XP on your hard drives going from UDMA mode into PIO mode for no good reason and are running SP1, you will need this file. This will save you guys from, as Microsoft says, "To obtain this feature immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services".

-------

1. Make sure you have System Restore turned off:
Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check the "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" check box.

2.Do a search for "atapi.sys" on your hard disk, and copy this version (5.1.2600.1211) to all locations.

3.Run the "atapi 5.1.2600.1211 update.reg" file to activate the patch. If you have more than a Primary and Secondary IDE channel, you will have to add the key to the registry yourself for the extra ones.

This update _should_ be included in SP2 but who knows...
Have fun!
