You may find more help by clicking on "Options" then "Help" inside of Inspector Parker or by reading the "Help_InspectorParker.rtf" file that was installed to the same director as this readme. -------------------- 2.1 BASIC GAMEPLAY -------------------- As you play Inspector Parker your goal will be to solve each gameboard. You solve a board by figuring out where all of the objects in Misanthorpe Manor were at the time of the crime. Which suspect was in the parlor – Fred, Boris or Portia? Which weapon was in the nursery – the knife, the noose or the rat poison? Each board will initially have all possible suspects in all possible rooms on the main floor, all possible weapons in all possible rooms on the second floor, and so on. To solve the board you must solve each room of the house by figuring out which object, or objects, were actually in that room. You can 'solve' a room in one of two ways: 1) Elimination: eliminate objects from a room until only one possibility remains. This must be the object that was in that room. OR 2) Deduction: you may sometimes get clues which allow you to know for certain that a specific object was in a room even though you have not eliminated all other possibilities. Then you can simply select that object for that room. ---------------------------------- 2.2 SELECTING AND REMOVING ITEMS ---------------------------------- You play the game by either selecting objects for a room or by removing them as possibilities. These actions are done with the left and right buttons on your mouse. SELECTING AN OBJECT FOR A ROOM: Left-click on one of the small objects in a room to select it as the object that you think was in that room. For example, if you think you've deduced from your clues that Portia was in the parlor, left-click on her small icon in the parlor to place her there. REMOVING AN OBJECT FROM A ROOM: Right-click on one of the small objects in a room to remove it as a possibility. For example, if you know for certain, based on your clues, that Fred cannot be in the parlor, you can right-click on the small Fred icon in the parlor to remove him as a possibility. You can tell when an object has been selected in a room versus just being in there as a possibility because the icon gets much larger when it is selected. When you select an object for a room, all other possibilities are automatically removed. ---------------- 2.2 GAME MODES ---------------- There are many different ways to play Inspector Parker. Below is a list of the different possibilities for each gameplay option. CAREER VS CHOOSE A LEVEL: A Career Game will take you through all the levels and give you the full story. Or you can select Choose a Level to replay your favorite levels. TIMED VS PUZZLE MODE: If you like a deadline, select Timed Mode where you have a time limit. For a more leisurely approach, select Puzzle Mode with no time limit per board. EASY, MEDIUM and DEADLY MODES: Easy will give you a lighter game like Solitaire. If you're looking for more of a master challenge, try Medium or Deadly. ================== 3.0 REGISTRATION ================== Registration allows unlimited play for all levels. The Room Gallery and the Victims Gallery will also be enabled in the registered version. ======================= 4.0 TECHNICAL SUPPORT ======================= If you are experiencing problems with Inspector Parker, you can contact us at: http://service.real.com.
