Firmware Upgrade using camera USB connections
The firmware upgrade process requires transferring the upgrade from the SD Card to the camera. One method is to use the USB connection. You may want to print out this page to use as a reference while you do the upgrade.

Caution: Before you Begin! :

    *

      FORMAT the SD CARD to insure that there are no files on the Card before you begin. If there are other files on the SD Card, the upgrade may not be recognized.

      While the firmware upgrade may be performed with fresh batteries, Toshiba highly recommends the process be done with the use of the optional AC adapter. The AC adapter assures a stable power source for the upgrade. After the upgrade process, the AC adapter is an alternative to save battery usage while downloading pictures to your computer. 

   1.

      Download the upgrade file from the web site to your computer.
      PDR_M700.bin <<< Click to Download this file.
   2.

      Place the SD Card in the camera and connect the camera to the computer using the USB connection.
   3.

      Copy the upgrade file from the computer to the SD Card in the camera
      (The camera appears as an External Drive).
   4.

      Disconnect the Toshiba PDR-M700 from the computer and the USB connection.
   5.

      BEFORE PROCEEDING, BE SURE TO INSTALL FRESH BATTERIES or USE THE OPTIONAL AC ADAPTER. 
      Interrupting the firmware upgrade process in any way, including stoppage due to weak batteries, can cause damage that may render the camera inoperable.
   6.

      PRESS and HOLD the DELETE IMAGE button while turning ON the power.
      The upgrade will begin automatically. You can monitor and confirm the upgrade process by watching the LCD display on the rear of the camera.
      DO NOT INTERRUPT THE UPDATE PROCESS.
      It takes approximately 60 seconds to complete.
   7.

      When the update is complete, turn OFF the camera.
   8.

      When you turn the camera ON again, the new Firmware version should be 1.10A
      Check the Firmware Version to insure that you have successfully installed the new Firmware Upgrade for your camera. 

    Congratulations, the camera upgrade is now complete. Now you can replace the battery and FORMAT the SD Card for more pictures.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
