Windows XP Driver Installation
Print this page as a reference for driver installation. 
In order to properly install your Mustek Windows XP driver, the original driver must be removed first. Follow these steps below to remove the old driver (if you have attempted to install this scanner before) and install the new version.  

Step One - Download the Drivers (TWAIN/PANEL DRIVERS and GENERIC SCANNER MODULE) 
Important notice - Files must be extract in the same folder, ie. c:\Mustex 1200 Plus.  
1. Download the TWAIN and PANEL, GENERIC SCANNER MODULE Driver File  and this readme file, associated with your Mustek scanner. 

Step Two - Disconnect the Scanner  
Make sure the scanner is not connected to the computer. Disconnect the scanner's USB plug from the USB socket.  

Step Three - Remove the Previous Driver Version (If you have previously attempted to install the scanner)  
Click on Start, Programs, Your Mustek Model  and select Uninstall. Follow the prompts to remove the original driver.  

Step Four - Installation steps.  
1. Restart your computer 
2. Open the folder that you saved the files into and double click on the file named TWAIN/PANEL DRIVERS ( also called WEB.EXE)- Allow for the installation to take place. 
3. When the twain driver installation is finished, you may be prompted to restart the computer. (IMPORTANT - do not restart computer between programs). 
4. Now install the panel program by double clicking on GENERIC SCANNER MODULE (also called UP_LIB.EXE) and follow the installation prompts. When this finishes restart the computer when prompted. 
5. Once the computer has been restarted you will want to connect the scanner to the USB port on your computer. 
6. Follow the onscreen instructions that should pop up. 
7. If you get a "Digital Signature Not Found or this driver has not been tested" dialog box, click on "YES" to continue the installation of the scanner.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
