PowerVault 122T Device Drivers

These device drivers are for use with the PowerVault 122T Tape Autoloader and PowerVault 122T DLT VS80 Tape drive for Windows 2000.  
Note: The following assumes a PowerVault 122T Autoloader is present and the devices are attached and powered on.
This release contains the following drivers for the PowerVault 122T Autoloader.

* PowerVault 122T Autoloader Driver for Windows 2000
* PowerVault 122T DLT VS80 Drive Driver for Windows 2000

Downloading the upgrade

1. Download and run the file 122TDRVR.EXE.   The file will extract its contents to the following locations: (Where x: is the system root)
x:\dell\drivers\R40389\
Contains the installation procedures.

x:\dell\drivers\R40389\Autoloader
Contains the Autoloader driver for Windows 2000.

x:\dell\drivers\R40389\DLT VS80 Drive
Contains the DLT VS80 Drive Drivers for Windows 2000.

Installing the Device Drivers

There are two device drivers associated with the Dell PowerVault 122T Autoloader. One for the Autoloader itself, and a second for the VS80 Tape Drive within the Autoloader.
Tape Drive Device Driver

Microsoft Windows® 2000:

1.	Make sure that you are logged on to the host server with Administrator privileges.
2.	Insert the Dell PowerVault 122T DLT Autoloader User's Manual and Drivers CD into the CD drive on the host server.
3.	Right-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, click Manage, then click Device Manager.
4.	The VS80 drive should be listed under the "? Other Devices" item as "BNCHMARK VS640 SCSI Sequential Device."
5.	Right-click the BNCHMARK VS640 SCSI Sequential Device listing, click Uninstall, and then click the OK button to confirm that you want to remove the device.
6.	Click the Action button in the upper-left corner of the Computer Management dialog box.
7.	Click Scan for Hardware Changes. Windows® 2000 now scans for the PowerVault 122T DLT VS80 dive. The VS80 drive appears under "? Other Devices" again.
8.	Right-click the BNCHMARK VS640 SCSI Sequential Device listing and click Properties.
9.	Select the Drivers tab.
10.	Click the Reinstall Driver or Update Driver button.
11.	When the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard appears, click the Next button.
12.	Click Display a list... and then click the Next button.
13.	Click the Have Disk button, type x:\dell\drivers\R40389\DLT VS80 Drive, where x: is your system root and click ok
14.	Click the Dell PowerVault 122T VS80 entry and click the Next button (NOTE: Depending on the status of your system and the exact path taken to select the device driver, the driver may appear as "Dltvsdtp.inf").
15.	Click the Next button again to install the driver.
16.	Click the Finish button.
17.	Close the Device Properties dialog box.
18.	The drive now appears in Device Manager under Tape Drives as a Dell PowerVault 122T VS80 and is ready to use.



Autoloader Device Driver

Microsoft Windows® 2000:

1.	Make sure that you are logged on to the host server with Administrator privileges.
2.	Insert the Dell PowerVault 122T DLT Autoloader User's Manual and Drivers CD into the CD drive on the host server.
3.	Right-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, click Manage, then click Device Manager.
4.	The Autoloader should be listed under the "Medium Changers" item as "Unknown Medium Changer Device".
5.	Right-click the Unknown Medium Changer Device listing, click Uninstall, and then click the OK button to confirm that you want to remove the device.
6.	Click the Action button in the upper-left corner of the Computer Management dialog box.
7.	Click Scan for Hardware Changes. Windows 2000 now scans for the PowerVault 122T DLT VS80 Autoloader. The Autoloader appears under Medium Changers again.
8.	Right-click the "Unknown Medium Changer Device" listing and click Properties.
9.	Select the Drivers tab.
10.	Click the Reinstall Driver button.
11.	When the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard appears, click the Next button.
12.	Click Display a list... and then click the Next button.
13.	Click the Have Disk button, type x:\dell\drivers\R40389\Autoloader, where x: is your system root, and click the OK button.
14.	Click the Dell PowerVault 122T Autoloader entry and click the Next button. (NOTE: Depending on the status of your system and the exact path taken to select the device driver, the driver may appear as "Dltvsdmc.inf")
15.	Click the Next button again to install the driver.
16.	Click the Finish button.
17.	Close the Device Properties dialog box.
18.	The Autoloader now appears in Device Manager under Medium Changers as a Dell PowerVault 122T Autoloader, and is ready to use.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
