Dell PowerVault 110T LTO2 Tape Drive Firmware Update Instructions -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Upgrading the PowerVault 110T LTO2 Tape Drive Firmware The LTO2 tape drive firmware can be updated using the IBM LTO-TDX Tape Drive Tool. Upgrading the PowerVault 110T LTO2 Tape Drive Firmware via the IBM LTO-TDX Tape Drive Tool 1. Run the LTO-TDX-WinTool V.01.00.exe program and follow the instructions to complete the installation. This program will create the default directory C:\Program Files\IBM\LTO-TDX Tape Drive Tool and install shortcuts to the program file and the data-file directories on the desktop. The program will also be added to the Start menu. 2. Next, copy the tape drive firmware image file to C:\Program Files\IBM\LTO-TDX Tape Drive Tool\LTO Firmware or copy the file to the LTO Firmware directory shortcut on your desktop. For LTO2 tape drives and the filename is de030303u_333N.ro. 3. Double-click the LTO-TDX Tape Drive Tool icon on the desktop. 4. Press any key after reviewing the displayed information about the utility. The tool will scan for LTO tape drives attached to the system. 5. Select the device number for the LTO tape drive to be updated. 6. At the option menu, enter 1 to update the tape drive firmware. The firmware upgrade process will begin. CAUTION: Do not power cycle or reset the tape drive during the firmware update. 7. When the upgrade process has completed for the tape drive, the option menu will be displayed once again. If you have more drives to flash, enter 3 to display the connected drives once again. Repeat the above steps for each tape drive to be updated. 8. Otherwise, enter 99 to exit the utility. 9. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
