INSTALLATION
####################################################################

Instructions for CPLD file CPLD_831_A00.zip

Download
1.	Go to support.dell.com 
2.	Choose Drivers and Downloads
3.	Select the Poweredge Model 2950
4.	Choose the applicable operating system from the drop-down box 
5.	Click on “Find downloads”
6.	Expand “Patches and Fixes”  
7.	Choose ZIP file Package CPLD_831_A00.zip
8.	When the File Download window appears, click Save to save the file to your hard drive.

Extract Files
1.	Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and double-click the new file to unzip the download package.
2.	Specify the location to unzip the files.
3.	Click on the unzip button to extract files to the root directory of the DOS bootable media devise . Choose either of the following bootable medias devices:
        a.	USB Key
        b.	Bootable CD
	c.	Bootable Floppy

To flash the system CPLD using a USB key:
        1.	Follow the "Extract Files” section, step 3
        2.	Boot the server and hit F11 at the server POST screen, this will bring you to the 
                “Boot Menu Screen”. Select the USB key to boot.
        3.	When the server boots, the update will occur automatically.
        4.	Verify the update is completed successfully on the screen.

To flash the system CPLD using a bootable CD:
	1.  	Follow the "Extract Files" section, step 3.
	2.  	User will need to build a bootable CD using whatever method they choose and include the files that were extracted in step 3 on it.
	3.  	Boot to the CD and execute the autoexec.bat.

To flash the system CPLD using a bootable floppy:
        1.	Follow the "Extract Files” section, step 3
        2.	Boot the server and hit F11 at the server POST screen, this will bring you to the 
                “Boot Menu Screen”. Select the floppy drive to boot.
        3.	When the server boots, the update will occur automatically.
        4.	Verify the update is completed successfully on the screen.

CRITICAL: 
After updating has completed successfully, the system must 
have AC power removed for at least 30 seconds.  Do not reboot,
power off with the power switch or any type of remote power
off.  Remove AC power by removing the AC power cord(s) from the
power supply located on the back of the server chassis.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
