	       Analog Devices Inc. SoundMAX(R) Readme


INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Installation or Update of Analog Devices SoundMAX

  NOTE: Remove any previously installed driver using the instructions
        in the next section.

1.  From the task bar, click on Start -> Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type X:\path\setup, where X:\path is the
    full path to the root of the installation media.

3.  When upgrading or reinstalling, a dialog will appear. Select 
    Reinstall and press Next.

4.  Click on the OK button or press the ENTER key.

5.  Click on the Next and OK prompts as they appear.

6.  Reboot the system to complete the installation.


Removal of Analog Devices SoundMAX

1.  From the task bar, click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel,
    or for Windows XP, click on Start -> Control Panel. 

2.  Double-click on the Add/Remove programs icon. 

3.  Double-click on SoundMAX Install.  

4.  If the installation media is present, a dialog will appear. 
    Select Remove and press Next.

5.  Reboot the system to fully uninstall the drivers.


NOTES:

* Microsoft(R) DirectX 8.1 or later is required.


UNATTENDED (SILENT) INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Unattended installations use an Install Shield Silent Response
File (setup.iss) to provide user input.

Running an Unattended (Silent) Installation

Run SETUP.EXE as described in the installation section above, but with
the -s parameter to use the .iss file that is provided with the driver.
      
To use a different setup.iss file, use the -f1 parameter to provide the
full path to the file.

  NOTE: When running an installation in silent mode, no messages
        are displayed. Instead, a log file named Setup.log captures
        installation information, including whether the installation
        was successful. The -f2 parameter can be used to control
        where the log file is created.


Running an Unattended (Silent) Uninstallation

1.  From the task bar, click on Start -> Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type X:\path\setup -s REMOVE, 
    where X:\path is the full path to the root of the 
    installation media.

3.  Reboot the system to fully uninstall the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
