                          Additional Information

                    MD6802-U Data+Fax Modem Card Ver 0.30


   This file contains additional information and changes about the
   various software that was not available at printing time.


   Version Numbers
   ===============
   The Windows 95 modem driver is Version 2.60.002.


   Connection Modes
   ================
   This modem driver is capable of V.90 as well as X2 connections.


   Installation on  Win 95 Platform
   ================================
   1.   Win95 will automatically detect the MD6802-U PnP Modem Card 
        and displays the "New Hardware Found" dialog box.

   2.   Insert the installation diskette provided into either drive
        A or B.
   
   3.   Select the "Driver from disk provided by Hardware manufacturer
        option and click OK.

   4.   Type A:\ (or B:\) in the combo box and click OK.


   You might encounter some resource conflicts after loading the PnP modem
   device (especially when there are non-Plug & Play adaptors installed in
   your system). To alter the resource configurations, go to Control Panel
   - System - Device Manager and click on "Modem". Choose the modem device
   and click on "Properties". You can change the settings for both comport.

   For further details, please refer to Trouble-shooting section in Windows
   95.


   Installation on  Win 95/OSR2 Platform
   =====================================
   1.   Win95 will automatically detect the MD6802-U PnP Modem Card after
        which the system will prompt the "Update Device Driver Wizard"
        dialog box.

   2.   Insert the installation diskette provided into either drive
        A or B.

   3.   Click "Next" to let system search for an updated driver.

   4.   Click "Finish" to use the found driver.
   
   5.   Click "Ok" when prompted to insert the installation disk. 

   6.   Change path to A:\ (or B:\) and click OK.

   7.   System will then automatically load all the necessary drivers and
        files needed.


   You might encounter some resource conflicts after loading the PnP 
   modem device (especially when there are non-Plug & Play adaptors installed
   in your system). Please refer to Trouble-shooting section in Windows 95 for 
   further details.


   Winmodem De-installation & Upgrade
   ==================================
   This is a Windows modem for Windows 95. Note that the Winmodem driver can be
   upgraded by performing Step 1, 2 and 3.

   Step 1: Check for De-installation facility:
   ___________________________________________

   1:   Go to 'Control Panel', and double click on the 'Modems' ICON.

   2:   Click on the 'Properties' button.

   3:   Click on the 'Port Settings' tab.
 
   4:   Check whether the Uninstall button is enabled.

   5:   If it is enabled, proceed with Step 2.
        
	If it is disabled, go to Start/Run and enter A:\DEINCON.EXE
        (or B:\DEINCON.EXE) from the installation disk to enable the Uninstall
        button.

   6:   Proceed to Step 2 for de-installation.


   Step 2: De-Install:
   ___________________

   Please note the following for uninstalling the Modem Device:

   1:   Go to 'Control Panel', and double click on the 'Modems' ICON.

   2:   Click on the 'Properties' button.

   3:   Click on the 'Port Settings' tab.

   4:   Click on the 'Uninstall' button to uninstall the Modem Device.

   5:   Click O.K. to all prompts. You will notice that this action will remove
        the following devices from the System Properties:
        i:      From Modem Device Properties, MD6802-U Winmodem.
        ii:     From Ports Device Properties, MD6802-U Winmodem (COM).

   6:   Proceed to Step 3 for Upgrading.


   Step 3: Upgrading:
   __________________

   The Winmodem can be upgraded to the latest drivers from the Web Site or by
   the manufacturer. To upgrade, please follow below:

   1:   De-install the Modem Device (Refer to above).
   
   2:   Restart the system.

   3:   You will be prompted for the Manufacturers Driver Installation Disk. 

   4:   Insert the installation disk to install the Modem Device.


   Things to Note
   ==============
   1.  MD6802-U can be set up on both WIN95 and WIN95(OSR2) as well as WIN98
       but no support on WIN3.x and DOS platform.

   2.  Voice and SpeakerPhone are not supported.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
