1.  When Windows 95/98 starts, a "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears
    identifying the card as a "PCI Ethernet Controller".

    NOTE, if the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box does not appear,
    please do the followings

    a. After entering Windows 95/98, double click "My Computer".
    b. Double click "Control Panel".
    c. Double click "System".
    d. Click the "Device Manager" tab.
    e. Open "Other Devices" (with a yellow "?" icon).
    f. Select "PCI Ethernet Controller" then click "Remove" button to
       remove it.

       Note, if you do not see any "PCI Ethernet Controller", Windows 95/98
       fails to detect your adapter. There may be problem with the adapter
       itself or with the system BIOS.

    g. Click Refresh and a "Add New Hardware Wizard" appears identifying
       the card as a "PCI Ethernet Controller";
    h. goto next step.

3.  Click Next then select "Search for the best driver for your device
    [Recommended]".

4.  Click Next then enable the "Specify a location" check box; type or browse 
    the path {CD-ROM Drive}:\Drivers\Lan\3COM to the driver.

5.  Click Next then Windows 95/98 identifies the card as
    "3Com EtherLink 10/100 PCI For Complete PC Management NIC (3C905C-TX)".

6.  Click Finish to let Windows 95/98 finishes the driver installation.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
