   Section A:   
   
   Important notice
   ================

   1.   Please install UM9800 V.90 USB modem drivers only in
        Windows 98. 
	For Windows 2000 user, UM9800 V.90 USB modem v3.00 driver come with Win2k driver.

   2.   For UM9800 V.90 USB modem, Speakerphone function is not
        supported by this modem. However, Telephone Answering
        Machine is supported.

   3.   DOS-Box games is not supported as USB Driver is using
        Virtual COM Ports which is not allocated any IRQ or
        Address.

   Section B:

   Installation of USB modem drivers on  Windows 98 platform
   =========================================================

   1.   Before powering on your Computer, connect the UM9800 V.90 
        USB Modem to the USB port of your Computer with a USB Cable.

   2.   Power on your Computer.

   3.   Windows 98 will automatically detect the USB modem. 
	Click 'Next' to continue.

   4.   Insert the installation CD provided into the CD-ROM Drive.

   5.   Select 'Search for the best drivers for your device. 
	(Recommended)' and click 'Next' to continue.

   6.   Enable 'CD-Rom drive' selection and click 'Next' to continue.

   7.   Modem Driver will be found on the installation CD. Click 
	'Next' to continue.

   8.   Click 'Finish' to complete modem installation.

   9.   System will then automatically load all the necessary 
        drivers and files needed.

  10.   A "UM9800 Modem Information" Folder will be created at your
        Windows 98 Start Menu, Programs Folder. You will find useful
        informations and Utilities for this Modem in this folder.

  11.   Installation is completed.

   
   Uninstallation your UM9800 USB Modem
   ====================================

   1.   Un-plugged the USB Modem and USB Cable from your Computer.
   
   2.   Then go to 'Add/Remove Programs' inside the 'Control Panel' to remove
        "UM9800 V.90 USB Modem".

   3.   Modem is Uninstalled.


   Alternatively,

   1.	Click "Deinstall Modem" in the "UM9800 Modem Information" Folder.

   2.   Click the "Next" button to start Uninstalling.

   3.   Click the "Finish" to complete Uninstalling.

   4.   Modem is Uninstalled.

   Section C:

   Installation of USB modem drivers on  Windows 2000 platform
   =========================================================

   1.   Before powering on your Computer, connect the UM9800 V.90 
        USB Modem to the USB port of your Computer with a USB Cable.

   2.   Power on your Computer.

   3.   Windows 2000 will automatically detect the USB modem. 
	Click 'Next' to continue.

   4.   Insert the installation CD provided into the CD-ROM Drive.

   5.   Select 'Search for the best drivers for your device. 
	(Recommended)' and click 'Next' to continue.

   6.   Enable 'CD-Rom drive' selection and click 'Next' to continue.

   7.   Modem Driver will be found on the installation CD. Click 
	'Next' to continue.

   8.   Click 'Finish' to complete modem installation.

   9.   System will then automatically load all the necessary 
        drivers and files needed.

  10.   Please click 'Continue' at the Microsoft signature
	prompting.

  11.	Installation is completed.

   
   Uninstallation your UM9800 USB Modem Win 2000 driver
   ====================================================

   1.   Un-plugged the USB Modem and USB Cable from your Computer.
   
   2.   Then go to 'Add/Remove Programs' inside the 'Control Panel' to remove
        "UM9800 V.90 USB Modem".

   3.	A confirmation window appears. Click "OK" to proceed.

   4.	Select the Control Panel - System Properties - Device Manager - Modems properties.
   
   5. 	Select the "uninstall Modem", this will fully remove all the modem related driver.  

   6.   Modem is Uninstalled.

   Section D:

   How to change the modem country profile
   =======================================

   For better modem performance, please set the country profile 
   to the country where you are in. If the country profile is not
   already set to the country where you are in, please do the
   following :

   Go to Control Panel => System => Device Manager. Double click on
   on 'Modem'. Double click on 'UM9800 V.90 USB Modem'. Click on 
   'Configuration'. Choose the country where you are in and 
   click 'OK'.

   Alternatively, you can go to the "UM9800 Modem Information" Folder
   and run the "Set Country" Utility.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
