(A-1) Installing the driver on Microsoft Windows 98
================================================================
Notice: The Windows 98 or Windows 98 SE installation CD are need
        to complete this install.

    1. Make sure your computer is power-off.
    2. Plug the adapter into one of the PCI slots of your PC.
    3. Turn on the power, then boot into Windows 98.
    4. Windows 98 will find the new hardware automatically,
       then "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box will appear.
    5. Click the "next" button and Select "Search for the best
       driver for your device (Recommended)", then click "Next"
       button.       
    6. Insert the driver disk in your PC's drive.                                 
    7. Select "Floppy disk drives" or "CD-ROM drives" and click
        "Next" button.  
        
        Notes:
        If you have the driver in a CD-ROM, please insert the CD-ROM,
        and select the "CD-ROM drives". If you have the driver in a 
        floppy disk, please insert the floppy disk, and select the
        "Floppy disk drives".   

    8. Windows 98 will prompt with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 
       (SMC1255TX/SMC1255TX-PF)" in the dialog box.
    9. Click "Next" button, then Windows 98 will copy the
       drivers to its system directory. 
       
       Notice: During this copying procedure, Windows 98 may
               request for your Windows 98 installation CD.
               
   10. When Windows prompts with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 
       (SMC1255TX/SMC1255TX-PF)" in the dialog box, click the 
       "Finsh" button.
   11. Remove the Driver Diskette.
   12. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

(A-2) Configuring the driver on Microsoft Windows 98
================================================================
    1. Double Click "My Computer" icon.
    2. Double Click "Control Panel" icon.
    3. Double Click the "Network" icon.
    4. Select the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255TX/SMC1255TX-PF)" from the 
       "Network" dialog box, then click the "Properties" button.
    5. Click "Advanced" tab.
    6. There are 9 items in the "Property" box.

       ------Media Type      
       ------PME Enable
       ------Wake On Ping
       ------Link Wakeup(Off->On)
       ------Link Wakeup(On->Off)
       ------Magic Packet Wakeup
       ------Flow Control
       ------Priority Packet
       ------VLAN ID
       
    7. Click "OK" button to return to "Network" dialog box.
    8. Click "OK" button and restart your PC to make the new
       configuration take effect.

(B-1) Installing the driver on Microsoft Windows Me
================================================================
    1. Make sure your computer is power-off.
    2. Plug the adapter into one of the PCI slots of your PC.
    3. Turn on the power, then boot into Windows Me.
    4. Windows Me will find the new hardware automatically,
       then "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box will appear.
    5. Insert the driver disk in your PC's drive.
       
       Notes:
       If you have the driver in a CD-ROM, please insert the CD-ROM,
       and select the "CD-ROM drives". If you have the driver in a 
       floppy disk, please insert the floppy disk, and select the
       "Floppy disk drives".    
    6. Select "Automatic search for a better driver(Recommended)", 
       then click "Next" button.                                                                                                                                                    
    7. Windows Me will find the best driver on the driver disk      
       and copy required files. After this is completed,            
       Windows Me will prompt with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255TX/SMC1255TX-PF)"  
       in the dialog box.                                           
    8. Remove the driver disk and click "Finish" button to       
       complete the installation.            
    9. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

(B-2) Configuring the driver on Microsoft Windows Me
================================================================

    1. Double Click "My Computer" icon.
    2. Double Click "Control Panel" icon.
    3. Double Click the "Network" icon.
    4. Select the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255TX/SMC1255TX-PF)" from the 
       "Network" dialog box, then click the "Properties" button.
    5. Click "Advanced" tab.
    6. There are 9 items in the "Property" box.

(C-1) Installing the driver on Microsoft Windows 2000
================================================================
    1. Make sure your computer is power-off.
    2. Plug the adapter into one of the PCI slots of your PC.
    3. Turn on the power, then boot into Windows 2000.
    4. Windows 2000 will find the new hardware automatically,
       then "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box will appear.
    5. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device
       (Recommended)", then click "Next".
    6. Insert the driver disk in your PC's drive.                                
    7. Select "Floppy disk drives" or "CD-ROM drives" and click
       "Next" button.  
        
       Notes:
       If you have the driver in a CD-ROM, please insert the CD-ROM,
       and select the "CD-ROM drives". If you have the driver in a 
       floppy disk, please insert the floppy disk, and select the
       "Floppy disk drives".                                   
                                                                        
    8. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard"        
       dialog box.                                                     

    9. When Windows prompts with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 
       (SMC1255TX/SMC1255TX-PF)", click the "Finsh" button to complete 
       installation.
   10. Remove the Driver Disk.

(C-2) Configuring the driver on Microsoft Windows 2000
================================================================
    1. Double click the "My Computer" icon.
    2. Double click the "Control Panel" icon.
    3. Double Click the "System" icon.
    4. Select the "Hardware" tab from the "System Properties"
       dialog box.
    5. Click the "Device Manager" button.
    6. Double click "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255TX/SMC1255TX-PF)" from 
       "Network adapters" item.
    7. Select "Advanced" tab in the dialog box.
    8. There are 9 items in the "Property" box.

       ------Media Type      
       ------PME Enable
       ------Wake On Ping
       ------Link Wakeup(Off->On)
       ------Link Wakeup(On->Off)
       ------Magic Packet Wakeup
       ------Flow Control
       ------Priority Packet

    9. After modifying the configuration, click the "OK" button
       make the new configuration take effect.

(D-1) Installing the driver on Microsoft Windows XP
================================================================
    1. Make sure your computer is power-off.
    2. Plug the adapter into one of the PCI slots of your PC.
    3. Turn the power ON, then boot into Windows XP.
    4. Windows XP will find the new hardware automatically,
       then "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box will appear.
    5. Insert the driver disk in your PC's drive, and select
       "Install the software automatically (Recommended)",
       then click "Next" button.  

       Notes:
       If you have the driver in a CD-ROM, please insert the CD-ROM,
       and select the "CD-ROM drives". If you have the driver in a 
       floppy disk, please insert the floppy disk, and select the
       "Floppy disk drives".
       
    8. Windows XP will find the best driver on the driver disk
       and copy required files. After this is completed,
       Windows XP will prompt with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 
       (SMC1255TX/SMC1255TX-PF)" in the dialog box.
    9. Remove the Driver Diskette and click "Finsh" button to
       complete the installation.

(D-2) Configuring the driver on Microsoft Windows XP
================================================================
    1. Open the "Control Panel" from "Start" Menu.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" .
    3. Click "Network and Internet Connections".
    4. Click "Network Connections".
    5. Right click the "Local Area Connection" icon with the
       name "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1255TX/SMC1255TX-PF)".
    6. Click "Properties" in the pull-down menu.
    7. Click "Config" button in the dialog box.
    8. Click "Advanced" tab in the dialog box.
    9. There are 9 items in the "Property" box.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
