                      SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2)
                        DOS ODI Driver Installation

1. Enable the SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2) .

      SMCOPEN.EXE is the SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2) MS-DOS enabling program. You
      have to run SMCOPEN.EXE to enable SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2) before bringing up
      the DOS ODI driver.

      The syntax for SMCOPEN is:

         SMCOPEN [/IRQ=x] [/MEM=mm] [/IO=nnn] [/O] [/?]

         Valid options:
            x   = Interrupt number (3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 12, 15).
                  This number must not be in use by any other device in the system.
            mm  = Hex memory location (e.g. C0, C8, D0, D8).
            nnn = IO range (300, 320, 340, 360).
                  SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2) requires 32 consecutive free I/O port addresses.
            /O (overwrites current socket settings).
            /? Displays this screen.

         The default value for IRQ is 3. The default value for IOP is
         0x300.

      Example: The following command enables SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2) with IRQ 5 and
                I/O port address 300:

            SMCOPEN /IRQ=5 /IO=300

      If you installed EMM386.EXE in CONFIG.SYS, please exclude memory
      address range D000-DFFF or D400-D7FF from EMM386.EXE.  SMCOPEN.EXE
      uses this space to read configuration information from the adapter.

        [Example]
           DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-DFFF

2. Load the SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2) DOS ODI Driver.

      The directory "\NETWARE\DOSODI" on the Driver Disk contains the
      SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2) DOS ODI driver. You need the following files to bring
      up the DOS ODI driver.

        a. LSL.COM: supplied by Novell.
        b. SMC80412.COM: SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2) DOS ODI driver. Included on this Disk.
        c. IPXODI.COM: supplied by Novell.
        d. VLM.EXE: supplied by Novell.
        e. NET.CFG: optional configuration file.

      You can specify optional parameters for the DOS ODI driver in the
      NET.CFG file. The following is a sample of this file:

      ----------------------------------------------------------------

      Protocol
         Bind SMC80412

      LINK DRIVER SMC80412
         INT 3
         PORT 300
         ;AUTOSENSE ;set in Auto Sense mode (AN Enable)
         ;LINESPEED 100 ;set LineSpeed in 10/100 Mode
         ;DUPLEX FULL ;set Duplex in HALF/FULL Mode
         ;FLOWCONTROL ;set FlowControl in full deplex mode
         FRAME Ethernet_802.3
         FRAME Ethernet_802.2
         FRAME Ethernet_II
         FRAME Ethernet_SNAP

      NetWare DOS Requester
         FIRST NETWORK DRIVE = F
         NETWARE PROTOCOL = NDS BIND

   ----------------------------------------------------------------

   The NET.CFG keywords are explained below:

   PORT This keyword specifies the starting IO Address in hexadecimal
              format. The default value is 300.

              This value must match the one reported by SMCOPEN.EXE.

   INT This keyword specifies the IRQ value to be used by SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2).
              The default value is 3.

              This value must match the one reported by SMCOPEN.EXE.

   AUTOSENSE This keyword specifies the connection type to be NWAY, or
              Auto-negotiation. Since the default connection type is
              NWAY, this keyword is redundant.

   LINESPEED This keyword specifies the connection speed in 10/100 mode.
              Valid Speed: 10 -- 10Mbps, 100 -- 100Mbps.

   DUPLEX This keyword specifies the connection duplex in Full/Half mode.
              Valid duplex mode: Full -- Full Duplex mode, Half -- Half Duplex mode.

   FLOWCONTROL
              This keyword specifies the FlowControl in full deplex mode.
