This is a modded version of Emachine’s TCB420J (256Kb) Bios for the AU31 Motherboard. 
Two file sizes of Bios are available for the AU31 (256Kb & 512KB). 
Make sure you use the correct size file!!!!!

·	PNP/PCI Configuration 
·	Power Management Setup
·	Updated Security Options

**Note** Before flashing you will need to record your MAC Address as it will be given a default address after flash that may not work. 

To record MAC Address:
[1] At DOS Prompt type in “ipconfig /all”
[2] Record the “Physical Address” for the NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller. It should be a 12 digit code similar to this “ 57-F0-00-E6-54-00 ”
To re-enter MAC Address after Bios Flash:
[1] Enter Setup by pressing F9. 
[2] Go to Advanced >>
[3] Integrated Peripherals >>
[4] Onboard Device Configuration >>
[5] Machine MAC (NV) Address (press enter) >>
[6] MAC (NV) Address Input (re-enter MAC Address without (-) (57F000E65400) and press enter.
[7] Exit Setup and Save all changes.
**For those that are reading this after flashing your Bios without a record of your correct MAC Address look on your board for a sticker (located by the memory slots) with the “LAN Address” and use this number.**

To Install

1.	Install new disk into Floppy Drive and run drdflash.exe this will make you a clean bootable floppy.

2.	Copy AwdFlash.exe and the TCB420JA.BIN files to floppy.

3.	With floppy installed, restart system.

4.	At the “A” prompt, type “Awdflash” (without the quotation marks).

5.	Enter your new .bin file “TCB420JA.BIN” and press Enter.

6.	Answer yes (Press “Y”) to back-up your old Bios. Enter in a name like “oldbios.bin” 
        or “backup.bin” don’t forget the .bin

7.	Answer yes to flash.

8.	After flash is finished your see instructions to “Remove disk and press F1” system will reboot.
 
9.	Enter Setup to check all settings. If unable to enter setup, manually Shut Down and remove System Battery 
        or find jumper to clear cmos then Restart and enter Setup to check all settings.
  

Notes:

·	Before flashing any Bios it is highly recommended that you take time to write down all setting in Setup 
        for future reference.

·	This is a modded version of Emachine’s TCB420J.bin. 
        By using this modded version your System Restore Disks should still work on your system. 
        I needed no Window’s Re-activation or Re-registration after flash.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
