1. General troubleshooting solutions

1-1. Notes for using EPSON Status Monitor 2 and EPSON Status Monitor 3

     EPSON Status Monitor3 turns on monitoring of the following types of
     connections, even if these settings are disabled by EPSON Status
     Monitor 2.
      * local printers
      * LPR printers
      * NetWare printers
      * Windows shared printers
     These settings should work in most cases.

      If you install EPSON Status Monitor 2 and change the monitoring settings,
      it will also change EPSON Status Monitor 3's settings. This
      can cause problems printing and monitoring.
     (Note) *If a particular communication protocol is not installed, the
               monitor settings will not be enabled.
              *To setup EPSON Status Monitor 3, please re-install your printer

1-2. If a Windows shared printer cannot be monitored, check the following:

	*Make sure that the printer driver is installed on the computer
	 that is hosting the Windows shared printer and that, in the printer
	 driver, the printer is set to be shared. Also make sure that "Allow
	 monitoring of shared printers" is selected in the Monitoring
	Preferences dialog box.

	*(Windows Me/98/95) On the server, double-click the Network icon in
	 Control Panel and make sure that the "File and printer sharing for
	 Microsoft Networks" component is installed. Then, on the server AND
	 clients, make sure that the "IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol" or the
	 "TCP/IP Protocol" is installed.

	*On the server and clients, make sure that Printer Interface version or later is installed. To confirm the version of Printer
	 Interface, open the EPSON Status Monitor 3 dialog box and click the
	 icon on the left side of the EPSON Status Monitor 3 title bar. Select
	 "About..." from the menu and confirm the version in the "Aboutc"
	 message box that appears.

1-3. Limitation when monitoring network printers in a Windows 95 environment

Windows Socket 2 must be installed. Windows Socket 2 is available from
Microsoft Corporation.

1-4. If network printers cannot be monitored after returning from sleep mode in a Windows 95 environment, do the following:

Close the printer driver and EPSON Status Monitor 3, then restart the Status Monitor. For information on accessing the Status Monitor, see your printer's Reference Guide.

2. Solutions for Windows XP/2000/NT environment

2-1. When uninstalling EPSON Status Monitor 3 from a multi-user Windows
XP/2000/NT environment, remove the shortcut icon from all clients before
uninstalling. You can remove the icon by clearing the Shortcut Icon check
box in the Monitoring Preferences dialog box.

2-2. In Windows XP/2000/NT, when connecting a shared printer on the server, be sure to do the following to all client PCs:

    *Clear the "Allow monitoring of shared printer" checkbox in the driver's
     Monitoring Preferences window.
    *Stop EPSON Net WebManager.
     You need Administrator's privileges to change these settings.
     See the EPSON Net WebManager User's Guide for more details.
