3. Install notes
Run setup.exe in setup directory on each Operating System.
make sure that,
*all other applications are closed, and all print jobs are finished before
 installing the printer driver.
*when asked by the install program whether you wish to "Keep existing driver" OR
"Replace existing driver", always select the replace option.

4. Notes regarding printing

(1) 1200 dpi
Some applications don't support printing with 1200 dpi; therefore, if you do not
get good results printing with "1200 dpi" selected as the Print Quality setting on
the Basic tab, try selecting "600 dpi (Fine)" or "300 dpi (Fast)" and then printing
again.

(2) Setting Up Drivers From Within Applications
Print setup is not available from within some applications. Setting print conditions
for the driver from these applications will have no effect on printing.
When using applications that do not support print setup, print only after setting
the driver print conditions from the Control Panel.

(3) Zoom Options Printing
The edges of the original may not be printed in the Zoom Options modes.
Make sure that sufficient space is available for the left, right, top and bottom
margins when printing in these modes.

(4) Collate in Printer
When using the collate function, follow the steps below.
1.Install 64 MB or more memory in the printer and set the correct memory size in
Installed Memory on the driver [Optional Settings] dialog box.
2.Turn "Collate in Printer" on in the [Basic Settings] tab in the printer driver.
If you have any problems printing in the function, turn the Collate option off in
applications that can select collate from the print dialog box.

(5) Some applications may not produce the desired print results.
Changing the print mode with the printer driver may produce the desired results in
such cases.
To change the print mode:
  1. Click [Start] on the task bar, select [Settings], and then select [Printers].
  2. Click the icon of the printer to be altered, and select [Properties] from the
     [File] menu.
  3. Click the [Basic Settings] tab and select [Advanced]. Select the [More
Settings] button, and click it to open the [More Settings] dialog box.
  4. Select the desired mode from the [Printing Mode] list in the [More Settings]
     dialog box.

If you don't obtain the desired print results in the High Quality(PC) mode, select
the High Quality(Printer) mode or the CRT mode.

* Gradations of color may not be match the screen with some graphics-based
applications. In such cases, changing from Photo-Realistic Accent to other settings
in the Mode in [More Settings] dialog box may produce the desired result.
To change the Color Adjustment, open the [More Settings] dialog box as described
above, and select the method from [Mode].

* When using the various font modification functions in word processor applications
select [Print TrueType fonts as bitmap] in the [Extended Settings] dialog box on the
[Optional Settings] tab in the printer driver.

* If you have problems with output from Adobe applications, turn Adobe Type Manager
off, and print again.

(6) Euro Symbol Printing
The printer driver supports Euro Symbol with the following internal printer fonts;
    Courier SWC
    Dutch 801 SWM
    Swiss 721 SWM
    Dutch 801 SWC
    Zapf Humanist 601 SWC
    Ribbon 131 SWC
    Clarendon Condensed SWC
    Swiss 742 SWC
    Swiss 742 Condensed SWC
    Incised 901 SWC
    Original Garamond SWC
    Audrey Two SWC
    Flareserif 821 SWC
    Flareserif 821 Extra Bold SWC
    Letter Gothic SWC
    ITC Avant Garde SWA
    ITC Bookman SWA

    Century Schoolbook SWA
    Zapf Calligraphic 801 SWA

If you have problems print in Euro Symbols, check the Font Substitution Table of the
printer driver. You can print Euro Symbols without using internal printer fonts if
you have screen fonts which support the Euro Symbol in your system. To do that,
change "TrueType fonts with substitution" to "Print TrueType fonts as bitmap" in the
[Extended Settings] dialog box on the [Optional Settings] tab of the printer driver
before you print.

1. General troubleshooting solutions

1-1. If a Windows shared printer cannot be monitored, check the following:

*Make sure that the printer driver is installed on the computer
that is hosting the Windows shared printer and that, in the printer
driver, the printer is set to be shared. Also make sure that "Allow
monitoring of shared printers" is selected in the Monitoring
	 Preferences dialog box.

*(Windows Me/98/95) On the server, double-click the Network icon in
Control Panel and make sure that the "File and printer sharing for
Microsoft Networks" component is installed. Then, on the server AND
clients, make sure that the "IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol" or the
	 "TCP/IP Protocol" is installed.

*On the server and clients, make sure that Printer Interface version
4.xxx or later is installed. To confirm the version of Printer
Interface, open the EPSON Status Monitor 3 dialog box and click the
icon on the left side of the EPSON Status Monitor 3 title bar. Select
"About..." from the menu and confirm the version in the "Aboutc"
	 message box that appears.

1-2. Limitation when monitoring network printers in a Windows 95 environment

Windows Socket 2 must be installed. Windows Socket 2 is available from
Microsoft Corporation.

1-3. If network printers cannot be monitored after returning from sleep mode in a Windows 95 environment, do the following:

Close the printer driver and EPSON Status Monitor 3, then restart the Status Monitor. For information on accessing the Status Monitor, see your printer's Reference Guide.

2. Solutions for Windows XP/2000/NT environment

2-1. When uninstalling EPSON Status Monitor 3 from a multi-user Windows
XP/2000/NT environment, remove the shortcut icon from all clients before
uninstalling. You can remove the icon by clearing the Shortcut Icon check
box in the Monitoring Preferences dialog box.

3. Solutions for network printers

3-1. To monitor a NetWare printer, connect only one print server to each
queue. For directions, see the Administrator's Guide for the printer.

3-2. You cannot monitor a NetWare queue printer beyond the IPX router
because the setting for IPX hops is 0.

3-3. When monitoring NetWare printers, a Novell Client that corresponds
to your operating system must be used. Operation is confirmed for the
versions below.

*For Windows Me/98/95: Novell Client 3.31 for Windows 95/98
*For Windows 2000/NT 4.0: Novell Client 4.81 for Windows NT/2000

3-4. Limitation when monitoring NetWare printers

This product supports NetWare printers configured by a queue-based printing
system such as Bindery or NDS. You cannot monitor NDPS (Novell Distributed
Print Services) printers.

4. Job Management Function

4-1. Connections that support the Job Management function

*EpsonNet Direct Print TCP/IP connections in Windows XP/Me/98/95/
	 2000/NT 4.0.
*LPR connections in Windows XP/2000/NT 4.0.
*Standard TCP/IP connections in Windows XP/2000.
*Shared Windows 2000/NT 4.0 LPR connections and shared Windows 2000
	 Standard TCP/IP connections with Windows XP/Me/98/95/2000/NT 4.0
	 clients.
Note that if the user account used to log on to a client is
different from the user account used to connect to the server,
the Job Management function is not available.

Shared Windows XP LPR connections and shared Windows XP Standard
TCP/IP connections with Windows clients do not support the Job
	Management function.

4-2. NetWare connections do not support the Job Management function.

4-3. "Monitor the printing status" must be selected on the printer driver's
Utility tab in order to use the "Notify when printing completed" function.

On condition that the client logon user is different from the connecting
user for the server, the Job Management function is not available.
