for Windows 98 users regarding DFE-660 Fast Ethernet PC Card installation.

1.0 Installation Notes For Windows 98 Users

    Follow the steps to install the DFE-660 Fast Ethernet PC Card's 
    driver:

    1. Start your PC, then insert the DFE-660 Fast Ethernet
       PC Card into an available PC Card slot in your PC.

    2. After starting Windows 98, the DFE-660 Fast Ethernet PC Card 
       will be detected automatically, then the "Add New Hardware 
       Wizard" window appears, and Windows displays the message

            "PCI Fast Ethernet DEC21143 Based Adapter"

    3. Click Next button and insert the DFE-660 PC Card Installation 
       diskette into drive A.

    4. Choose the "Search for the best driver for your device", then
       click the Next button 

    5. Make sure the "Floppy disk drives" is selected. Click Next
       button.
 
    6. Win98 will start to search floppy drive A for network driver,
       and Windows displays the message
       
            "D-Link DEF-660 Fast Ethernet PC Card Adapter"

    7. Click Next button,
       then the Win98 starts to copy the DFE-660 Fast Ethernet PC Card
       driver to the user's hard disk.

    8. Click Finish button and Restart your computer.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
