Standard Microsystems Corporation SMC8022T EZ PCMCIA 10Base-T Adapter SMC8022BT EZ PCMCIA Combo Adapter Netware Driver Installation Overview This directory contains the DOS/ODI driver SMC8022.COM that supports Novell NetWare versions 3.x and 4.0. You need the following files to install the DOS/ODI driver. All of them are included on this diskette. 1. LSL.COM ---- Link Support Layer 2. SMC8022.COM ---- DOS/ODI Driver 3. IPXODI.COM ---- IPX/ODI driver 4. VLM.EXE ---- Netware shell 5. NET.CFG ---- Optional configuration file You can copy all these files to a directory, and then enter the following commands: LSL <Enter> SMC8022 <Enter> IPXODI <Enter> VLM <Enter> You can then login to a file server. A batch file, STARTNET.BAT, with the above commands is included in the \NETWARE directory for your convenience. Below is a sample NET.CFG file: LINK DRIVER SMC8022 PORT 300 INT 5 FRAME Ethernet_802.2 FRAME Ethernet_802.3 FRAME Ethernet_II FRAME Ethernet_snap PROTOCOL IPX 0 Ethernet_802.2 After executing SMC8022.COM with this NET.CFG file, a message similar to the following is displayed: IRQ 5, Port 300, Node Address E8010155 L Max Frame 1514 bytes, Line Speed 10 Mbps, Bus ID 0 Board 1, Frame ETHERNET_802.2, LSB Mode Board 2, Frame ETHERNET_802.3, LSB Mode Board 3, Frame ETHERNET_II, LSB Mode Board 4, Frame ETHERNET_SNAP, LSB Mode In the NET.CFG file, the INT keyword specifies the interrupt (IRQ) for the LAN function. All legal IRQ values are supported. If Card Service is installed in the system, SMC8022 checks with the Card Service to see if the IRQ you specified is free. If it is, SMC8022 uses this IRQ. If it is not free, SMC8022 asks the Card Service to assign an available IRQ and use that IRQ instead of the one you specified. If Card Service is not installed, SMC8022 will try to use the IRQ you specified regardless whether it is free. In case the IRQ is not free, SMC8022 will not be able to come up, or the system may hang. If Card Service is installed in the system, it is recommended that you do not specify the IRQ value and let SMC8022 assign it for you. If Card Service in not installed, please make sure the IRQ you assigned, or the default value (5), is not used by another device in the system. The PORT keyword specifies the base I/O address for the LAN function. The comment about IRQ assignment also applies to the PORT parameter. If Card Service is installed in the system, it is recommended that you do not specify the PORT value and let SMC8022 assign it for you. If Card Service is not installed, please make sure the I/O Base you assigned, or the default value (0x300), is not used by another device in the system.Download Driver Pack
