EMDIAG Diagnostics ---------------------------------------- The eMASTER+ Diagnostics Program runs with MS-DOS version 3.3 or later. Before running the eMASTER+ Diagnostics Program, make sure no network drivers are running in the system. EMDIAG will not run reliably from within a Windows DOS box. From the Main Menu of EMDIAG, you can make one of the following selections: Configuration Status Reports the resources in use by the eMASTER+ PCI adapter. This option is useful for determining if your adapter is recognized your system. If the adapter is not found in your system, the following messages might appear, and can be resolved as follows: Diagnostics Contains options for Local, Remote and Echo Server. These options provide the ability to run both local and remote diagnostics, and to set up the eMASTER+ adapter for use as an Echo Server. For a full explanation of this option, see your eMASTER+ manual. PCI Device Provides resource and Information configuration information about all of the PCI devices installed in your system. Readme Viewer Allows you to view the eMASTER+ README.TXT file located in the root of the eMASTER+ setup diskette. Technical Support Provides contact information for Cogent Technical Support. Exit Allows you to return to the DOS prompt. EMDIAG Startup Options ---------------------------------------- EMDIAG includes some startup parameters to help you get the most out of this utility. These startup parameters are described below, and can be viewed on-screen by typing "EMDIAG /?" followed by an <ENTER>. /t:<value> Runs the `transmit' test in local and remote diagnostics <value> * thousand times. /v:<value> For the EM110 TX and EM110 TX Combo adapters, selects the adapter speed, where <value> should be set to `10' for 10 Mbps and `100' for 100 Mbps. /c:<value> Runs diagnostics on a specific PCI device, where the eMASTER+ device to be diagnosed is determined by the number entered in place of <value>. To determine the PCI device number for specific eMASTER+ adapters, first run EMDIAG with no additional parameters, and select `PCI Device Information.' The first column under the `PCI Device Information' display contains the PCI Device ID for each of the installed PCI devices. /x:<string> Allows the selection of a particular transceiver to be diagnosed on the eMASTER+ adapter. The possible values for <string> are `thin' and `utp.' /BNC or /THIN Configures EMDIAG to test a Combo adapter's BNC port. EMDIAG Error Messages ---------------------------------------- In addition to the information described above, EMDIAG provides the following text messages to help you setup up and configure your eMASTER+ PCI adapter. To resolve this problem, move the adapter to another slot, or activate bus mastering in that slot via your system's BIOS setup. In most cases, this problem is solved by obtaining a BIOS upgrade from your system manufacturer. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
