Installing your USB ZiO! Reader
==================================================

Note: For the ZiO! Memory Stick and ZiO! Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard readers, driver installation is only required for Windows 98 and 98 SE. Driver installation is not required for Windows 2000, Windows Me, and Windows XP. Driver installation is required for ZiO! CompactFlash and ZiO! SmartMedia readers for all Windows operating systems.

Insert the Microtech Installer CD into your CD-ROM. The auto-run program should begin the installation automatically. If the setup program does not begin momentarily, double-click on "My Computer". Next double-click on the drive corresponding to your CD-ROM. The window for the CD-ROM will open with the contents of the Microtech Installer CD. Double-click on the file labeled "SETUP.EXE" to run the installer.

In the "ZiO Installer" window, select the "INSTALL DRIVERS" option. Select your USB ZiO! from the list to install the correct drivers. Follow the on-screen instructions to properly install the drivers for your reader. Once completed, restart your computer to finish the installation.

Operating your USB ZiO! Reader
==================================================

Plug in your USB ZiO! directly (or with the accompanied USB extension cable) into an available USB port on your computer. A drive letter will appear in "My Computer" for your USB ZiO! Reader.

To access your media, insert the media into the USB ZiO! reader and double-click on "My Computer". You should see a new drive letter corresponding to the USB ZiO!. Double-click on that new drive letter to access your files stored on the media. If the media does not fit correctly or is not accessible, re-orientate the media and try reinserting it.

Note: SmartMedia and MultiMedia/Secure Digital cards must be inserted into the USB ZiO! with the gold contacts facing down. If the computer is not correctly recognizing the media, re-orientate the media and try reinserting it.

To open an image, begin by accessing the media through "My Computer" or through "Windows Explorer". Then simply double-click on an available image file. The image will open in your default image-viewing software.

To copy images to your computer's hard drive, select the images you would like to copy by highlighting them with your mouse. Once you have selected the images to copy, simply drag them to the destination folder. A copy window will appear with the status of your images being copied to the hard drive. When the images have been transferred, the copy window will disappear.

To format the media, right-click on the USB ZiO! drive letter in "My Computer" and select the "FORMAT" option from the drop-down menu. Select "Start" to begin formatting your media.

NOTE: Formatting the media will erase all pre-existing data on your card.

FOR WINDOWS 2000:
To eject the media from your USB ZiO!, right-click on the appropriate drive letter and select "EJECT" from the drop-down menu. A window will appear when it is safe to eject the media from your reader.
